Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage. Ensure all components are present: coffee maker unit, 48 oz. removable water reservoir, reusable coffee grounds basket, and charcoal water filter.
  2. Placement: Place the coffee maker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the countertop. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Clean the Water Reservoir: Before first use, wash the removable 48 oz. water reservoir and the reusable coffee grounds basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. Install Charcoal Water Filter: Insert the charcoal water filter into its designated slot within the water reservoir. This helps ensure optimal coffee taste.
  5. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the 48 oz. removable water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the MAX fill line. Reattach it securely to the coffee maker.

Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Chefman Caffeinator.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • After each use, remove and empty the K-Cup holder or reusable grounds basket. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
    • Empty and clean the drip tray and its cover. Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  • Self-Clean Function: Periodically use the "CLEAN" function to flush the internal components. Fill the water reservoir, place an empty mug, and press "CLEAN".
  • Descaling: Mineral deposits can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
    • Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
    • Place a large mug on the drip tray.
    • Run several brew cycles until the reservoir is empty.
    • Rinse the reservoir and fill with fresh water. Run several cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining vinegar.
  • Charcoal Water Filter Replacement: The charcoal water filter should be replaced approximately every 2 months or after 60 uses, whichever comes first, to maintain water quality.
