Setup

1. Charging the Keyboard

Before first use, fully charge the keyboard. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's Type-C port and the other end to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter). The charging indicator will show the charging status.

2. Connectivity Modes

The EPOMAKER G84 supports three connection modes: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and USB Type-C wired. A mode switch is located on the keyboard to select your preferred connection type.

2.1. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the 2.4GHz wireless receiver, typically stored in a compartment under the keyboard's kickstand.
  2. Plug the receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to 2.4GHz wireless mode. The keyboard should automatically connect.

2.2. Bluetooth Connection

  1. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to Bluetooth mode.
  2. On your device (PC, tablet, smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  3. Select "EPOMAKER G84" from the list of available devices to pair.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

2.3. USB Type-C Wired Connection

  1. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's Type-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to wired mode. The keyboard will be recognized as a standard USB keyboard.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Key Functions

The G84 features an 80% layout with 84 keys. Standard alphanumeric and function keys operate as expected. Refer to the keycap legends for primary functions.

2. RGB Backlight Customization

The keyboard features dynamic RGB backlighting. Use the following key combinations with the Fn key to adjust lighting effects:

  2. Connect the keyboard to your computer via USB Type-C cable.
  3. Launch the VIA software/web driver. The keyboard should be automatically detected.

4. Hot-Swappable Switches

The G84 features hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to change mechanical switches without soldering. This enables customization of typing feel and sound.

  1. Using the provided 2-in-1 keycap-and-switch puller, carefully remove the keycap from the desired switch.
  2. Use the switch puller to gently grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull it straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press it firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are not bent.
  4. Reattach the keycap.
