Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Gevi EzPod Compact Single Serve Coffee Maker. This manual provides essential information for the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new coffee maker. Please read these instructions thoroughly before first use and retain them for future reference.

Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.

Setup

1. Initial Cleaning

  1. Remove all packaging materials and labels from the coffee maker.
  2. Wash the water reservoir, drip tray, reusable K-Cup filter, capsule adaptor, and ground coffee brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.

2. First Use Rinse Cycle

Before brewing coffee for the first time, perform a rinse cycle to clean the internal components:

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the 'MAX' line.
  2. Place an empty mug or container on the drip tray.
  3. Ensure no pod or ground coffee is in the brew chamber.
  4. Press the 'ON/OFF' button to power on the machine.
  5. Select a large brew size (e.g., 14oz) and press the 'ON/OFF' button again to start the rinse cycle.
  6. Discard the hot water. Repeat this process 2-3 times for thorough cleaning.

Operating Instructions

1. Brewing with Single-Serve Pods

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh water.
  2. Lift the handle to open the brew chamber.
  3. Insert a single-serve coffee pod into the capsule adaptor.
  4. Close the handle firmly until it clicks.
  5. Place your mug on the drip tray.
  6. Select your desired brew size (6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz) using the 'SIZE' button.
  7. Choose your preferred brew mode: 'OVER ICE', 'STRENGTH' (for classic/strong), or 'INFUSION' (for intense flavor).
  8. Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start brewing. The machine will automatically stop when brewing is complete.

2. Brewing with Ground Coffee

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh water.
  2. Lift the handle to open the brew chamber.
  3. Fill the ground coffee brew basket with 1/2 to 1/3 oz of your preferred ground coffee. Do not overfill.
  4. Place the filled brew basket into the brew chamber.
  5. Close the handle firmly until it clicks.
  6. Place your mug on the drip tray.
  7. Select your desired brew size (6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz) using the 'SIZE' button.
  8. Choose your preferred brew mode: 'OVER ICE', 'STRENGTH' (for classic/strong), or 'INFUSION' (for intense flavor).
  9. Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start brewing. The machine will automatically stop when brewing is complete.

3. Brew Modes and Sizes

  • 4 Brew Modes: The coffee maker offers 'OVER ICE', 'CLASSIC', 'STRONG', and 'INTENSE' brewing options. Use the 'STRENGTH' button to cycle through Classic and Strong, and 'INFUSION' for Intense.
  • Pre-Infusion Technology: The 'INFUSION' mode utilizes pre-infusion to gently pre-wet coffee grounds, enhancing flavor extraction for a bolder taste.
  • 5 Brew Sizes: Choose from 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, or 14oz cup sizes to suit your preference. The 40oz water reservoir allows for multiple brews without frequent refilling.

Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
  2. Remove and empty the drip tray after each use. The drip tray is removable for easy cleaning.
  3. Wash the water reservoir, drip tray, reusable K-Cup filter, and ground coffee brew basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

2. Self-Cleaning Function

The coffee maker features a convenient self-cleaning function:

  1. Ensure the brew chamber is empty (no pod or grounds).
  2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water.
  3. Place an empty mug on the drip tray.
  4. Press the 'CLEAN' button on the touch-pad menu. The machine will run a cleaning cycle.
  5. Discard the water after the cycle is complete.

3. Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (scale) can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Empty the water reservoir.
  2. Pour a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar or a commercial descaling agent) into the reservoir, following the product's instructions for dilution.
  3. Place a large empty mug or container on the drip tray.
  4. Run several brew cycles (without coffee) until the reservoir is empty.
  5. Rinse the reservoir thoroughly and fill with fresh water.
  6. Run several more brew cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.

Troubleshooting
