3. Product Overview
Familiarize yourself with the components of your Dahua Hero A1 camera.

3.1 Camera Components
- Lens: Captures video footage.
- Infrared LEDs: Provide night vision illumination.
- Microphone: For audio input and two-way communication.
- Speaker: For audio output and two-way communication.
- Status Indicator Light: Displays camera status (e.g., power, network connection).
- Reset Button: Used to restore factory settings.

4. Setup
4.1 Powering On the Camera
- Connect the USB-C cable to the camera's power port.
- Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to the power adapter.
- Plug the power adapter into a power outlet.
- The camera will power on, and the status indicator light will illuminate.
4.2 Installing the Dahua App
The Dahua Hero A1 camera requires the official Dahua application for setup and remote control.
- Download the "Dahua" app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
4.3 Adding the Camera to the App
Follow these steps to add your camera to the Dahua app:
- Open the Dahua app and tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
- Select "Scan QR Code" and scan the QR code located on the bottom of your camera.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the camera to your Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz only). The camera supports Wi-Fi 6 for stable connection.
- Alternatively, use the Bluetooth pairing function for quick setup.
- If using a wired connection, connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port on the camera and your router.
- Once connected, name your camera and complete the setup process.

4.4 Mounting the Camera
The camera can be placed on a flat surface or mounted to a wall or ceiling.
- Choose a suitable location for optimal surveillance coverage.
- Use the provided mounting hole template to mark screw positions.
- Drill holes and insert wall anchors if necessary.
- Secure the mounting plate to the surface using the screw pack.
- Attach the camera to the mounting plate by twisting it until it locks into place.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Live View and Pan/Tilt Control
- Open the Dahua app and select your camera to view the live feed.
- Use the on-screen controls to pan (rotate horizontally 0-355°) and tilt (rotate vertically -5-80°) the camera lens to adjust the viewing angle.
5.2 Two-Way Audio
- Tap the microphone icon in the app to speak through the camera's speaker.
- The camera's built-in microphone will capture audio from the surveillance area.
5.3 Recording and Storage
- Micro SD Card: Insert a Micro SD card (up to 256GB, not included) into the designated slot for local storage of recordings.
- Network Video Recorder (NVR): The camera supports connection to an NVR for centralized recording.
- Configure recording settings (e.g., continuous, motion-triggered) within the Dahua app.
5.4 Privacy Mode
- Activate "One-Click Privacy Mode" in the app to physically retract the camera lens, ensuring privacy when desired.
