1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your AviaryEye A18 Mini Body Camera. Please read thoroughly before use to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your device.

3. Setup

3.1. Inserting the MicroSD Card

The camera requires a MicroSD card (64GB included, supports up to 128GB) to store recordings. Ensure the camera is powered off before inserting or removing the card.

  1. Locate the TF Card Slot on the side of the camera.
  2. Gently insert the MicroSD card into the slot with the gold contacts facing the back of the camera.
  3. Use the provided card pin to push the card until it clicks into place. Do not force it.
  4. To remove, push the card again with the pin until it pops out.

Note: Please format the MicroSD card to FAT32 before first use for optimal compatibility and performance. This can typically be done via a computer.

3.2. Charging the Camera

Before initial use, fully charge the camera. The camera is equipped with a 1000mAh lithium battery.

  1. Connect the provided USB charge cable to the Type-C port on the camera.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The indicator light will show charging status (refer to the Specifications section for light indicators).
  4. A full charge provides approximately 3-5 hours of continuous recording.

3.3. Setting the Time/Timestamp

To ensure accurate timestamps on your recordings, connect the camera to a computer to set the time.

  1. Ensure a formatted MicroSD card is inserted into the camera.
  2. Connect the camera to your computer using the provided USB cable. The camera will appear as a removable disk.
  3. Locate and open the "TIME.TXT" file on the MicroSD card.
  4. Edit the text to the desired time in YYYY-MM-DD,HH:MM:SS format (e.g., 2025-09-04 14:00:00).
  5. To display the timestamp on recordings, add 'Y' at the end of the line. To hide it, add 'N'.
  6. Save the "TIME.TXT" file.
  7. Safely eject the camera from your computer. The time will be updated upon the next power cycle.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Long press the Power button (top button on the side) for 2-3 seconds. The blue indicator light will illuminate, indicating standby mode.
  • Power Off: Long press the Power button for 3-5 seconds. The indicator lights will turn off. The camera will automatically save any ongoing recording before powering off.

4.2. Video Recording

  • From standby mode (blue light solid), short press the Power/Video Recording button once. The blue light will flash slowly, indicating video recording is in progress.
  • To stop recording, short press the Power/Video Recording button again. The blue light will become solid, returning to standby mode. The video file will be saved automatically.
  • The camera records in 1080P Full HD resolution.

4.3. Audio Recording

  • From standby mode (blue light solid), short press the Audio Recording button (middle button on the side) once. The yellow light will flash slowly, indicating audio-only recording is in progress.
  • To stop audio recording, short press the Audio Recording button again. The blue light will become solid, returning to standby mode. The audio file will be saved automatically.

4.4. Motion Detection Recording

  • From standby mode (blue light solid), long press the Photo/Motion Detection button (bottom button on the side) for 3 seconds. The blue light will flash, then the green light will flash slowly, indicating motion detection mode is active.
  • The camera will automatically start recording when motion is detected and stop when motion ceases.
  • To exit motion detection mode, short press the Photo/Motion Detection button again. The blue light will become solid, returning to standby mode.

4.5. Night Vision

  • From standby mode (blue light solid), short press the Night Vision Key (slide switch on the side) to turn on the infrared lamp. The yellow LED will turn ON while IR is ON.
  • To turn off night vision, slide the switch down.
  • The camera provides night vision recording up to 6 feet.

4.6. Loop Recording

The camera supports loop recording. When the MicroSD card is full, the oldest files will be automatically overwritten to make space for new recordings. This feature ensures continuous recording without manual file management.

4.7. Viewing Recordings

You can view your recordings by connecting the camera directly to a computer or by using a card reader.

  • Via USB Cable: Connect the camera to your computer using the provided USB cable. The camera will appear as a removable disk, allowing you to access the VIDEO and PHOTO folders.
  • Via Card Reader: Remove the MicroSD card from the camera and insert it into a card reader (not included). Connect the card reader to your computer to access the files.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the camera lens clean using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Store the camera in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • The camera is not water resistant; avoid contact with liquids.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Camera Freezes or Becomes Unresponsive

If the camera freezes or does not respond, a reset may be required.

  1. Locate the small "Reset" hole on the side of the camera.
  2. Use a thin object, such as the provided card pin or a paperclip, to gently press the reset button inside the hole.
  3. Hold for a few seconds until the camera powers off or restarts.

6.2. Other Common Issues

  • Cannot Power On: Ensure the battery is charged. If fully charged, try resetting the camera.
  • Cannot Record: Ensure a formatted MicroSD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space.
  • Poor Video/Audio Quality: Ensure the lens is clean. For optimal stability, attach the camera securely to clothing or a mount.
  • Timestamp Incorrect: Follow the "Setting the Time/Timestamp" instructions in Section 3.3.
