  • Placement: Do not place near flammable materials or in areas with explosive gases or dust.

3. Product Features

The New Fi bz25 Bug Zapper is designed for effective insect control using advanced light technology and a high-voltage grid.

  • Two-Tube Two-Color Lighting: Features a white tube emitting blue-violet light (250-400nm wavelength) to attract mosquitoes, and a black tube emitting ultraviolet light (380-480nm wavelength) to attract flies, moths, and other insects. This dual-spectrum approach enhances attraction for a wider range of flying insects.
  • Effective Physical Elimination: Insects attracted to the light are eliminated by a 4200V electrical grid upon contact. This method is chemical-free and environmentally friendly.
  • EPA Registered: The device is EPA registered, ensuring safety for family and pets when used as directed.
  • IPX4 Waterproof Design: Resistant to harsh weather conditions, making it suitable for outdoor use.
  • Wide Coverage: Effective defense range up to 2100 sq ft.
  • Convenient Design: Includes a hanging hook for versatile placement.

4. Setup and Installation

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the bug zapper from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Placement:
    • Choose a location where flying insects are prevalent.
    • For optimal performance, place the zapper in a darker environment, especially at night.
    • The integrated hanging hook allows for suspension in various locations such as patios, yards, porches, or gardens. It can also be placed on a flat surface.
    • Ensure the unit is placed away from direct human activity to avoid accidental contact with the grid.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the unit into a standard 110V AC electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Once plugged in, the bug zapper will automatically activate its light tubes to attract insects.
  2. The black lamp emits ultraviolet rays, which may not appear as bright as the blue-violet light. This is normal operation and does not indicate a malfunction.
  3. For best results, operate the product at night and in darker environments where it can be the primary light source attracting insects.
  4. To turn off the unit, simply unplug it from the electrical outlet.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your bug zapper.

  • Cleaning the Collection Tray:
    1. Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power source before cleaning.
    2. The bug zapper features a removable tray at the bottom designed to collect dead insects. Gently pull out this tray.
    3. Empty the contents of the tray into a waste bin.
    4. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting.
    5. Reinsert the collection tray securely into the bottom of the unit.
  • Cleaning the Grid:
    1. With the unit unplugged, use a small, non-metallic brush (e.g., an old toothbrush) to gently brush away any insect debris from the high-voltage grid.
    2. Do not use water or liquid cleaners directly on the grid.
  • Bulb Replacement:
    1. If a lamp does not light up, it might be loose. Unplug the unit, open the bottom access panel, and gently re-fix the lamp into its socket.
    2. If a bulb needs replacement, ensure the unit is unplugged. Access the bulb compartment from the bottom. Replace with an 18W bulb of the appropriate type (two-tube, two-color as originally supplied).

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Unit does not turn on. Not plugged in; power outlet malfunction; loose lamp. Ensure the unit is securely plugged into a working 110V AC outlet. Check the circuit breaker. Unplug and re-fix the lamp as described in Section 6.
Black lamp does not appear bright. Normal operation for UV light. The black lamp emits ultraviolet rays, which are less visible to the human eye than blue-violet light. This is normal and indicates proper function.
Reduced insect attraction. Bulbs are old; competing light sources; unit placed incorrectly. Consider replacing the bulbs if they are old. Ensure the unit is the primary light source attracting insects, especially at night. Relocate to a darker area.
Unit received is defective. Manufacturing defect or shipping damage. Contact New Fi customer support immediately for a prompt replacement.
