3. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the microwave oven from its packaging. Remove all packing materials, including any protective film or tape from the oven cavity and door.
- Placement: Place the microwave oven on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, such as a kitchen countertop. Ensure there is adequate space around the appliance for ventilation:
- Minimum 10 cm (4 inches) clearance at the rear.
- Minimum 20 cm (8 inches) clearance on the sides.
- Minimum 30 cm (12 inches) clearance above.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the specifications of the appliance (230V).
4. Operating Instructions
The Severin MW 9587 features intuitive rotary controls for easy operation.

Basic Operation:
- Place the food in a microwave-safe container inside the oven cavity.
- Close the oven door securely.
- Set Power Level: Turn the upper rotary knob (Power) to select the desired power setting. Available settings are:
- 150W
- 300W
- 500W
- 700W
- 800W (Maximum Power)
- Defrost (indicated by a snowflake symbol)
- Set Cooking Time: Turn the lower rotary knob (Timer) clockwise to set the desired cooking time. The timer can be set up to 30 minutes. The microwave will start heating automatically once the timer is set.
- When the set time elapses, the microwave will automatically stop and a signal will sound.
- Carefully remove the food from the oven. Be aware that the container and food will be hot.
Using the Defrost Function:
The defrost function is designed to thaw frozen foods efficiently.
- Place the frozen food in a microwave-safe container.
- Turn the upper rotary knob (Power) to the "Defrost" setting (snowflake symbol).
- Turn the lower rotary knob (Timer) to set the defrosting time. The defrost setting on the knob also indicates weight ranges (e.g., 0.1kg to 0.5kg) to guide approximate defrosting times. Adjust time based on food type and weight.
- Monitor the food during defrosting and turn it over if necessary to ensure even thawing.
5. Care and Maintenance
Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance and longevity of your microwave oven.
- Cleaning the Interior:
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
- Wipe the interior surfaces, including the oven cavity walls and door seal, with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
- For stubborn food splatters, place a bowl of water with lemon juice inside and heat on high for 2-3 minutes. The steam will loosen the residue, making it easier to wipe clean.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can scratch the surfaces.
- Cleaning the Exterior:
- Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
- Ensure no water enters the ventilation openings.
6. Troubleshooting
