2. Safety Information

To prevent injury to yourself and others, or damage to the appliance, please observe the following safety precautions:

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the unit is plugged into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Hot Water Safety: The hot water dispenser can reach high temperatures. Always use the child safety lock when dispensing hot water to prevent accidental scalding, especially if children are present. Exercise caution when handling hot water.
  • Placement: Place the dispenser on a firm, level surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, maintaining at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance from walls or other objects. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.
  • Water Quality: Only use potable (drinkable) water in the dispenser.

4. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the dispenser from its packaging. Retain packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  2. Placement: Position the unit on a stable, level surface. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clear space around the back and sides for proper ventilation. Avoid placing near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight.
  3. Water Bottle Installation: Clean the neck of a new 3 or 5-gallon water bottle. Carefully invert the bottle and place it onto the water bottle support at the top of the dispenser. Ensure it is seated firmly and water begins to flow into the internal reservoirs.
  4. Initial Flushing: Before first use, dispense at least two cups of cold water and two cups of hot water (after heating) to flush the internal system. This helps remove any manufacturing residue.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard, grounded 120V AC electrical outlet. Turn on the main power switch, usually located on the back of the unit.

5. Operating Instructions

  • Hot Water: Place a cup under the hot water spout. First, press and hold the child safety lock button, then press the hot water dispensing lever. Release both to stop.

5.2 Ice Making

The integrated ice maker will automatically produce ice cubes.

  • Activation: Ensure the ice making function is enabled (refer to control panel indicators). The unit will draw water from the reservoir to begin ice production.
  • Production Cycle: The dispenser produces 9 bullet-shaped ice cubes per cycle, with each cycle taking approximately 6-8 minutes.
  • Daily Capacity: Under optimal conditions (e.g., 77°F ambient temperature), the unit can produce up to 27 pounds of ice daily.
  • Ice Storage: The ice storage compartment is designed for temporary holding of ice. It is not a freezer. Ice will gradually melt over time, and the melted water will be recycled back into the water reservoir for new ice production. For best results, use ice shortly after it is made.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your dispenser.

  1. Drip Tray: The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly to prevent overflow and bacterial growth. Remove the tray, wash with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and replace.
  2. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the dispenser with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  3. Ice Storage Compartment: Periodically clean the ice storage area. Unplug the unit, remove any remaining ice, and wipe the interior with a clean, damp cloth. Ensure it is dry before resuming operation.
  4. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may accumulate in the hot water tank. Descaling should be performed periodically, especially in areas with hard water. Consult the VECYS official website or customer support for recommended descaling procedures and suitable descaling agents for this model.
  5. Water System Flushing: For a more thorough cleaning of the internal water tanks and lines, periodically flush the system. This typically involves draining the tanks and refilling with fresh water. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for detailed instructions on this process.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VECYS BYCZ581, please refer to the following common problems and solutions before contacting customer service:

  • No Hot Water: Ensure the hot water heating switch is turned on. Allow sufficient time (15-20 minutes) for the water to heat up. Check if the unit is plugged in and receiving power.
  • No Cold Water: Ensure the cold water cooling switch is turned on. Allow sufficient time (30-60 minutes) for the water to cool. Check power connection.
  • No Ice Production: Verify that the water bottle is not empty and is properly seated. Ensure the ice making function is active. Check if the ambient temperature is within the recommended operating range. The ice storage compartment is not a freezer, so ice will melt if not used.
  • Water Leaks: Check that the water bottle is correctly installed and not cracked. Inspect the drip tray for proper placement. If leaks persist, unplug the unit and contact customer support.
  • Unusual Noise: Some operational noise from the compressor and ice making mechanism is normal. If the noise is excessively loud or unusual, ensure the unit is on a level surface and not touching any walls. If the noise continues, contact customer support.

For issues not covered here, or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, please contact VECYS customer service for assistance.
