2. Digital Line Counter and Autostop Feature

The reel features a true digital line counter. Before use, input the line diameter for accurate readings. This powers the autostop feature for hands-free retrieval.

  • Setting Line Diameter: Navigate through the menu using the 'MODE' and 'MENU-3s' buttons to find the line diameter input setting. Adjust according to your line specifications.
  • Activating Autostop: Once the line counter is calibrated, the autostop feature can be engaged. Consult the on-screen menu for specific activation steps.
  • Override Feature: An override knob is available if you wish to manually control the retrieval speed, even when autostop is active.

3. Drag System Adjustment (Dura Drag Lever Drag)

The Dura Drag Lever Drag system allows precise control over drag pressure, with a maximum drag of 40lb (18.1kg).

  1. Locate the lever drag on the side of the reel.
  2. Move the lever forward to increase drag pressure and backward to decrease it.
  3. Adjust the drag setting based on your fishing conditions and target species.

4. Spool Tension Knob

A spool tension knob is provided to prevent overruns when the reel is in freespool. Adjust this knob to apply appropriate tension to the spool.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the reel thoroughly with fresh water. Avoid using high-pressure sprays directly on the digital display or battery compartment seals. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.

2. Lubrication

Periodically apply a small amount of reel oil to moving parts and grease to gears as recommended by PENN. Refer to the PENN website or a qualified service center for detailed lubrication points.

3. Battery Care

Store lithium-ion batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not expose them to extreme temperatures. Charge batteries regularly, even during periods of non-use, to maintain their lifespan. Remove the battery from the reel during long-term storage.
