Setup and Installation

Unpacking

Carefully remove the detector from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. If damaged, do not install and contact customer support.

Placement Guidelines

For optimal performance and safety, consider the following placement guidelines:

  • Install in areas where alarms can be heard by all occupants, especially sleeping areas.
  • For CO detection, install near sleeping areas and on every level of your home.
  • For smoke detection, install on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
  • For gas detection, install near potential gas leak sources (e.g., kitchen, utility room) but not directly above them.
  • Avoid placing near windows, doors, or vents where drafts could interfere with sensor readings.
  • Avoid placing in direct sunlight or areas with extreme temperature fluctuations.

Powering On (Plug-in & Battery)

The Gedsffati detector is designed for simple plug-and-play operation.

  1. Locate a standard 110V to 220V AC US outlet in your desired installation location.
  2. Plug the detector directly into the outlet. The unit will automatically power on and begin its self-test sequence.
  3. The built-in 1000 mAh lithium backup battery will automatically charge when the unit is plugged into AC power. This battery provides continuous operation for 9-10 hours during power outages.

Operating Instructions

Understanding the Display

Once plugged in, the detector's HD screen will activate and display real-time readings. Monitor the screen for current levels of CO, smoke, combustible gas, temperature, and humidity. The icons and numerical values provide a quick overview of your environment's safety status.

Alarm Functions

The detector is equipped with both visual and audible alarms to alert you to dangerous conditions.

  • Audible Alarm: When the concentration of hazardous gas (CO, smoke, or combustible gas) exceeds the preset alarm value, the detector will emit an 85dB beep alarm sound.
  • Visual Alarm: The screen will change to indicate the specific hazard detected, often with flashing icons or changing colors, to draw immediate attention.
The detector's screen showing a high CO ppm reading (350 ppm) with an alarm sound indicated by 'Di~ Di~', emphasizing the sound and light alarm feature for preventing danger.

Figure 7: The detector provides immediate sound and light alarms upon detection of dangerous levels.

Alarm Silence Feature

In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking smoke), you may temporarily silence the smoke alarm by pressing the designated button on the unit. The CO and gas alarms cannot be silenced for safety reasons until the hazard has cleared.

Testing the Detector

It is crucial to test your detector regularly to ensure it is functioning correctly. Test the unit at least once a month.

  1. Press and hold the 'Test' button (usually indicated by a speaker icon or 'Test').
  2. The detector will emit a series of beeps and the display will show test indicators.
  3. Release the button. If the unit does not respond as described, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Dust and debris can accumulate on the detector and interfere with its operation. Clean the unit regularly:

  • Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior of the detector.
  • Do not use cleaning solvents or chemicals, as they may damage the sensors.
  • Gently vacuum around the sensor openings with a soft brush attachment to remove dust.

Battery Backup

The built-in rechargeable lithium battery provides backup power. Ensure the unit remains plugged into an AC outlet to keep the battery charged. If the unit is unplugged for an extended period, the battery will eventually deplete. Recharge by plugging the unit back into an AC outlet.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Detector does not power on when plugged in.No power from outlet; unit malfunction.Check the outlet with another device. Try a different outlet. If still no power, contact support.
Alarm sounds without apparent hazard.Nuisance alarm (e.g., cooking smoke); sensor contamination; false alarm.Ventilate the area. Press the silence button for smoke alarms. Clean the detector. If alarms persist, treat as a real alarm.
Detector beeps intermittently (not full alarm).Low battery; end-of-life warning; fault indication.Ensure unit is plugged in to charge battery. Check display for error codes. If end-of-life, replace unit.
Display is blank or unreadable. No power; display malfunction.Check power connection. Try unplugging and re-plugging. Contact support if issue persists.
