Safety Information
WARNING:
- Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any service or maintenance to prevent accidental starting.
- Work in a well-ventilated area. Gasoline fumes are flammable and can be hazardous.
- Allow the engine to cool completely before working on the carburetor to avoid burns.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and eye protection.
- Keep fuel and flammable materials away from open flames or ignition sources.
- If you are unsure about any procedure, consult a qualified technician.

Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to replace the carburetor on your WEN 56352-CA 3500 Watt Generator.
- Preparation: Ensure the generator engine is cool. Disconnect the spark plug wire. Turn off the fuel supply valve and drain any fuel from the fuel tank and fuel line into an approved container.
- Remove Air Filter Assembly: Loosen and remove the bolts securing the air filter housing. Carefully detach the air filter assembly.
- Disconnect Fuel Line: Using pliers, pinch the fuel line clamp and slide it away from the carburetor. Gently pull the fuel line off the carburetor's fuel inlet. Be prepared for any residual fuel to leak.
- Disconnect Linkages: Carefully observe and disconnect any throttle and choke linkages connected to the old carburetor. Take a photo if necessary to aid reassembly.
- Remove Old Carburetor: Loosen and remove the nuts or bolts securing the carburetor to the engine manifold. Carefully pull the old carburetor away from the engine, ensuring all old gaskets are removed.
- Install New Gaskets: Place the new gaskets in their correct positions between the engine manifold, the carburetor, and the air filter housing. Ensure they are properly aligned to prevent air leaks.
- Install New Carburetor: Position the new RATION carburetor onto the engine manifold, aligning it with the mounting studs. Secure it with the previously removed nuts or bolts, tightening them evenly.
- Reconnect Linkages: Reconnect the throttle and choke linkages to the new carburetor, ensuring they move freely and correctly.
- Reconnect Fuel Line: Attach the new fuel line (if replacing) or the old fuel line to the carburetor's fuel inlet. Secure it with the fuel line clamp. Install the new fuel filter in the fuel line if not already present.
- Install New Air Filter: Insert the new air filter into the air filter housing and reattach the air filter assembly, securing it with its bolts.
- Final Checks: Reconnect the spark plug wire. Refill the fuel tank with fresh, clean fuel. Check all connections for tightness and ensure there are no fuel leaks.
Operation
After successful installation, the carburetor will regulate the air-fuel mixture for your generator. Ensure the choke lever is in the correct position for starting (usually "Choke" or "Start" when cold, "Run" when warm). Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "Run" position. The carburetor automatically adjusts the fuel flow based on engine speed and load.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance of your carburetor and associated components is crucial for optimal generator performance.
- Fuel System Cleanliness: Always use fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline. Stale or contaminated fuel is the leading cause of carburetor issues. Consider using a fuel stabilizer if the generator will be stored for extended periods.
- Fuel Filter Replacement: Replace the fuel filter annually or more frequently if fuel appears dirty. A clogged fuel filter restricts fuel flow to the carburetor.
- Air Filter Inspection/Replacement: Inspect the air filter regularly (every 25 hours of operation or annually). Clean or replace it if it's dirty or clogged. A dirty air filter can cause the engine to run rich and affect carburetor performance.
- Spark Plug Replacement: Replace the spark plug annually or as recommended by your generator's manual. A fouled spark plug can lead to poor combustion and affect engine starting and running.
- Carburetor Cleaning: If the generator experiences rough idling, stalling, or difficulty starting, the carburetor may need cleaning. This typically involves disassembling the carburetor, cleaning jets and passages with carburetor cleaner, and replacing gaskets. This procedure should only be performed by individuals with mechanical experience.
- Storage: Before long-term storage, either drain the fuel system completely or add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate the stabilized fuel through the carburetor.
Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your carburetor or generator's fuel system.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | No fuel, clogged fuel filter, clogged carburetor jet, faulty spark plug, incorrect choke position. | Check fuel level. Replace fuel filter. Clean carburetor. Replace spark plug. Adjust choke. |
| Engine runs rough or stalls | Dirty carburetor, old fuel, dirty air filter, incorrect idle adjustment. | Clean carburetor. Drain and refill with fresh fuel. Clean/replace air filter. Adjust idle screw. |
| Engine lacks power | Clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter, partially clogged carburetor. | Replace fuel filter. Clean/replace air filter. Clean carburetor. |
| Fuel leaks from carburetor | Damaged float, stuck float needle, worn gaskets, loose connections. | Inspect/replace float and needle. Replace gaskets. Tighten connections. |
