2. Initial Setup
Before first use, follow these steps to ensure proper operation and hygiene.
- Unpack and Position: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Place it on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface near a power outlet. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.
- Clean Components: Wash the water tank, milk reservoir, portafilter, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Reinsert the tank securely.
- Prime the Machine: Plug in the machine and turn it on. Place a large cup under the coffee spout. Select the 'Espresso' function without coffee in the portafilter. Allow water to run through until the tank is about half empty. This primes the pump and flushes out any manufacturing residue. Repeat for the milk frother by selecting a milk-based drink without milk in the reservoir, allowing water to run through the frother.
- Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket into the portafilter.

4.2. Descaling
Descaling should be performed regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, depending on water hardness) to prevent mineral buildup.
- Empty the water tank and fill it with a descaling solution mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Place a large container under the coffee spout and milk frother.
- Run several cycles of espresso and milk frothing (without coffee or milk) to allow the descaling solution to flow through the internal components.
- After the descaling solution has run through, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water. Run several more cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
4.3. Cup Warming Tray
The top surface of the machine acts as a cup warming tray, helping to keep your cups warm for optimal coffee temperature.
