4. Setup and Installation

This section outlines the general steps for installing components into your MONTECH XR Wood PC case. Always refer to your individual component manuals (motherboard, GPU, PSU, etc.) for specific installation instructions.

4.1. Preparation

• Unpack the PC case and remove all packaging materials.
• Place the case on a stable, flat surface.
• Remove the tempered glass side panel by swinging it open and lifting it off its hinges.
• Remove the rear side panel to access the cable management area.
• Identify the included accessory box containing screws, zip ties, and other mounting hardware.

4.2. Component Installation

1. Motherboard Installation:

   Align your motherboard with the standoffs inside the case. Ensure the I/O shield is properly seated in the rear opening. Secure the motherboard with the appropriate screws from the accessory kit.

2. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Installation:

   Mount your PSU in the dedicated compartment at the bottom rear of the case. Secure it with screws from the outside rear of the case.

3. Storage Drive Installation:

   Install 2.5" SSDs or 3.5" HDDs into the designated drive bays or mounting points. The case supports multiple NVMe bays on the motherboard tray (check motherboard manual for NVMe installation).
4. Graphics Card (GPU) Installation:

   Remove the necessary PCIe slot covers at the rear of the case. Insert your GPU into the appropriate PCIe slot on the motherboard and secure it with screws.

5. Cable Management:

   Utilize the cable routing cutouts and tie-down points behind the motherboard tray to manage and hide cables for a clean build and improved airflow. Connect all necessary power and data cables to your components.

6. Fan and Radiator Installation (Optional):

   If installing additional fans or liquid cooling radiators, refer to Figure 2.2 for supported sizes and locations. Ensure proper airflow direction (intake/exhaust).

4.3. Final Assembly

• Reconnect all external peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.).
• Reattach the rear side panel and the tempered glass side panel.
• Connect the power cable to the PSU and turn on the PSU switch.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On Your System

Once all components are installed and cables are connected, press the Power Button located on the top I/O panel of the case to start your computer.

5.2. Front I/O Panel Usage

• USB 3.0 Ports: Use these ports for high-speed data transfer with compatible USB devices.
• USB Type-C Port: Provides versatile connectivity for modern USB-C devices.
• Audio Jacks: Connect your headphones and microphone to the dedicated audio and mic ports.
• Reset Button: Press to restart your system.
• Power Button: Press to turn on or shut down your system.

5.3. ARGB Fan Control

The pre-installed GF120 ARGB PWM fans offer customizable lighting. The RGB lighting can typically be controlled via your motherboard's ARGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync) if connected to a compatible ARGB header. Some cases may also feature a dedicated LED button on the I/O panel for basic lighting mode cycling.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your PC components.

6.1. Dust Filter Cleaning

The MONTECH XR Wood case features comprehensive 360° dust filters. It is recommended to clean these filters periodically (e.g., monthly or bi-monthly, depending on your environment) to maintain optimal airflow and prevent dust buildup inside the case.

• Turn off and unplug your PC.
• Carefully remove the magnetic dust filters from the top, front, bottom, and side panels.
• Clean the filters using compressed air, a soft brush, or by rinsing them with water (ensure they are completely dry before reattaching).
• Reattach the clean dust filters to their respective positions.

6.2. General Case Cleaning

• Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces of the case. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
• For the tempered glass panel, use a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to avoid streaks.
• Periodically use compressed air to clear dust from internal components and fan blades.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PC build, consider the following common troubleshooting steps.

7.1. No Power / System Not Starting

• Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the PSU and the wall outlet.
• Verify that the PSU's power switch is in the "ON" position.
• Check all internal power connections, especially the 24-pin ATX power cable to the motherboard and the CPU power cable.
• Confirm that the front panel power switch cable is correctly connected to the motherboard's F_PANEL header.

7.2. Fans Not Spinning / No RGB Lighting

• Check if the fan power cables are properly connected to the motherboard fan headers or a fan controller.
• For ARGB lighting, ensure the ARGB cables are connected to a compatible 3-pin 5V ARGB header on your motherboard.
• Verify that your motherboard's ARGB software is installed and configured correctly.

7.3. No Display Output

• Ensure your monitor cable is connected to the graphics card (GPU) output, not the motherboard's integrated graphics output (unless you are using integrated graphics).
• Reseat the graphics card in its PCIe slot.
• Reseat the RAM modules.
