5.2. Connecting Test Leads

For measurements requiring direct contact, connect the test leads to the appropriate input jacks on the multimeter.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

Press the power button to turn the multimeter ON or OFF. The device may have an auto-power-off feature to conserve battery.

6.2. Function Selection

Rotate the central dial to select the desired measurement function (e.g., AC current, DC voltage, resistance). Use the SELECT button to toggle between different sub-functions within a mode (e.g., AC or DC voltage).

6.3. AC/DC Current Measurement (Clamp Function)

The U-shaped clamp allows for non-invasive current measurement.

  1. Turn the dial to the AC or DC current measurement mode (indicated by A~ or A=).
  2. Press the trigger to open the clamp jaws.
  3. Enclose a single conductor (not a bundle of wires) within the clamp jaws.
  4. Release the trigger to close the jaws securely around the conductor.
  5. Read the current value on the display.

6.4. AC/DC Voltage Measurement

To measure voltage:

  1. Connect the test leads to the appropriate jacks (black to COM, red to VΩmA).
  2. Turn the dial to the voltage measurement mode (V~ for AC, V= for DC). Use the SELECT button if needed.
  3. Touch the test probes to the points where you want to measure voltage.
  4. Read the voltage value on the display.

6.5. Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, and Continuity Measurement

For these measurements, ensure the circuit is de-energized before connecting the test leads.

  1. Connect the test leads (black to COM, red to VΩmA).
  2. Turn the dial to the appropriate mode (Ω for resistance, ∔ for capacitance, ⇋ for diode, or )) for continuity). Use the SELECT button to cycle through these functions if they share a dial position.
  3. Touch the test probes to the component or circuit points.
  4. Read the value on the display. For continuity, an audible beep indicates a continuous circuit.

6.6. Frequency (Hz) Measurement

To measure frequency:

  1. Connect the test leads (black to COM, red to VΩmA).
  2. Turn the dial to the frequency mode (Hz).
  3. Touch the test probes to the circuit points where you want to measure frequency.
  4. Read the frequency value on the display.

6.7. Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

The NCV function allows for safe detection of live voltage without direct contact.

  1. Long-press the SELECT button to activate NCV mode. The display will show "NCV".
  2. Move the top part of the clamp meter close to the suspected live wire or electrical outlet.
  3. If AC voltage is detected, the meter will emit an audible beep and the NCV indicator will light up, with intensity varying based on signal strength.
