General Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury when operating power tools. Keep this manual for future reference.
Personal Safety
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
- Dress properly: Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can get caught in moving parts. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Stay alert: Do not operate the chainsaw when you are tired, under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
- Maintain proper footing and balance: Ensure a stable stance before and during operation.
Work Area Safety
- Keep work area clean and well-lit: Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Keep bystanders away: Do not allow children or untrained persons to operate or be near the chainsaw.
- Avoid dangerous environments: Do not use the chainsaw in damp or wet locations, or expose it to rain.
Chainsaw Specific Safety
- Understand kickback: Be aware of the potential for kickback, which can occur when the moving chain contacts an object at the upper quadrant of the guide bar nose.
- Use both hands: Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when operating.
- Inspect before use: Check for damaged parts, loose fasteners, and proper chain tension before each use.
- Never modify the chainsaw: Unauthorized modifications can impair safety and performance.

Setup
1. Battery Installation and Removal
- To Install: Align the ribs on the battery with the grooves in the chainsaw's battery port. Slide the battery into the port until it clicks securely into place.
- To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the battery itself) and slide the battery out of the port.
Ensure the battery is fully charged before use. Refer to your battery and charger manual for charging instructions.
2. Guide Bar and Saw Chain Installation
Always ensure the battery is removed before performing any assembly or maintenance.
- Remove Side Cover: Use the onboard wrench to loosen the nuts securing the side access cover. Remove the cover.
- Install Guide Bar: Place the guide bar onto the studs, ensuring the chain tensioning pin fits into the hole on the guide bar.
- Install Saw Chain: Carefully loop the saw chain around the drive sprocket and into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction (refer to markings on the chain or bar).
- Replace Side Cover: Reinstall the side cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.
- Adjust Chain Tension: Use the chain tensioning screw (typically located on the side cover) to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the bar, and the chain should not bind.
- Tighten Nuts: Once tension is correct, fully tighten the side cover nuts with the wrench.
3. Filling the Chain Oil Reservoir
The chainsaw features an automatic oiler. It is crucial to keep the oil reservoir filled with appropriate bar and chain oil to ensure smooth operation and extend the life of the chain and bar.
- Place the chainsaw on a flat, stable surface.
- Unscrew the oil cap (usually located on the top or side of the motor housing).
- Fill the reservoir with quality bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil or thin oils like motor oil, as this can damage the pump and chain.
- Replace the oil cap securely.
- Check the oil level frequently during operation and refill as needed.
Operating Instructions
Before starting, ensure all safety precautions are followed, the battery is charged, and the oil reservoir is full.
1. Starting the Chainsaw
- Insert a fully charged 40V battery into the chainsaw.
- Grip the chainsaw firmly with both hands: one hand on the front handle and the other on the rear comfort grip.
- To start, depress the safety lock-out button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch. The chain will begin to move.
2. Cutting Techniques
- Pruning Branches: When cutting branches, support the branch if possible to prevent it from pinching the chain. Make relief cuts if the branch is large to avoid tearing the bark.
- Avoid Kickback: Always be aware of the guide bar tip. Avoid contact with any object, especially when cutting with the upper quadrant of the tip, as this can cause sudden upward and backward movement (kickback).
- Maintain Control: Let the chainsaw do the work. Do not force the saw through the cut. Apply steady, light pressure.
- Clear Debris: Stop the chainsaw and remove the battery before clearing any jammed debris from the chain or bar.
3. Stopping the Chainsaw
Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop moving. Always remove the battery when the chainsaw is not in use or before performing any adjustments or maintenance.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.
1. Chain Sharpening and Replacement
- Sharpening: A dull chain will cut slowly and require more force. Sharpen the chain regularly using a round file of the correct diameter (refer to chain specifications, typically 3/8" LP for this model). Maintain the correct filing angles.
- Replacement: Replace the chain when it is severely dull, damaged, or stretched beyond adjustment limits. Follow the installation steps in the "Setup" section.
2. Guide Bar Maintenance
- Clean Groove: Periodically clean the guide bar groove to remove sawdust and debris that can impede chain movement and oil flow.
- Flip Bar: To ensure even wear, flip the guide bar over periodically (e.g., after every 8-10 hours of use).
- Check for Burrs: Remove any burrs that form on the guide bar rails using a flat file.
3. Cleaning and Storage
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the chainsaw exterior with a damp cloth. Remove sawdust and debris from the motor housing vents and around the chain and bar area.
- Storage: Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children. Always install the scabbard (bar cover) over the guide bar and chain before storage. Remove the battery before storing for extended periods.
