3. Setup

3.1 Preparing the Paint

For optimal results, it is crucial to thin your paint to the correct viscosity. Use the included viscosity cup to measure. The ideal range is 100-120 seconds at 20°C (68°F).

  • Preparation: Filter the paint through a 150-190µm strainer to remove debris. Select the correct thinner based on your paint type.
  • Thinning Process: Add thinner gradually (5% by volume at a time). Stir thoroughly (2-3 minutes) until fully blended. Test viscosity using a DIN viscosity cup. If >120s, add 3-5% more thinner and retest. If <100s, discard as over-thinned paint will not adhere properly.

3.2 Nozzle Selection and Installation

The sprayer comes with interchangeable nozzles to suit different project needs:

  • 1.5mm Nozzle: Best for small surfaces like desks, chairs, and benches.
  • 2.0mm Nozzle: Ideal for large areas such as fences, walls, and floors.

To install or replace a nozzle:

  1. Remove the cap nut by turning it counterclockwise.
  2. Separate the air cap and nozzle assembly.
  3. Select the proper nozzle size for your project.
  4. Align and seat the new nozzle into the gun's orifice.
  5. Reattach the air cap and tighten the cap nut clockwise.

4.3 Pre-Spraying Preparations

Before beginning your painting project, ensure the following steps are completed:

  1. Thin paint to target viscosity (100±5 seconds flow through funnel).
  2. Protect unpainted surfaces using high-quality tape and masking materials.
  3. Verify nozzle size (1.5mm for desks, 2.0mm for walls) and tighten securely.
  4. Adjust the flow knob.
  5. Test spray pattern on cardboard at 20cm distance.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning After Use

Immediate and thorough cleaning after each use is essential to prevent clogging, extend gun lifespan, and ensure consistent performance. Residual paint can alter spray patterns.

  • Remove the spray gun container.
  • Clean the container with the included brush and rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Clean the suction tube with the brush and rinse thoroughly.
  • Disassemble the nozzle and clean it with the included brush, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Flush the main spray gun unit with clean water until no paint remains. The spray gun should be tilted downwards during cleaning to avoid water flowing back into the motor.
  • Test with clean water until it runs clear with no paint residue, indicating complete internal cleaning.

6. Troubleshooting

Why is my spray gun not spraying or working intermittently?

Perform the following checks:

  • Clog Alert: Is dried paint clogging the nozzle? Do a needle test: you can freely move the needle back and forth. Soak in lacquer thinner overnight, then follow the spray gun cleaning video instructions to thoroughly flush the body. Avoid using damaged tips.
  • Wrong Thinness: Is the paint too thick or too thin? Add 5% thinner if too thick. Start over with new paint if too thin.
