Setup Guide

Assembly

  1. Ensure the power cord is unplugged before assembly.
  2. Attach the paint container to the main sprayer body by screwing it securely into place.
  3. Select the appropriate nozzle (1.5mm for small surfaces, 2.0mm for large areas) and attach it to the spray gun.
  4. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.

Paint Preparation and Thinning

Proper paint preparation is crucial for optimal spray performance and to prevent clogging.

  1. Filter the Paint: Pour the paint through a 150-190µm strainer to remove any debris or lumps.
  2. Viscosity Test: Use the included viscosity cup. Pour the paint into the cup and time how long it takes to flow out. The ideal range is 100-120 seconds at 20°C (68°F).
  3. Thinning Process:
    • If the flow time is >120 seconds, add thinner gradually (5% by volume at a time).
    • Stir thoroughly for 2-3 minutes until fully blended.
    • Retest viscosity. Repeat until the desired flow time is achieved.
    • If flow time is <100 seconds, the paint is over-thinned and may not adhere properly. Discard and prepare new paint.
  4. Select Thinner: Choose the correct thinner based on your paint type (e.g., water for water-based paints, mineral spirits for oil-based paints).

Operating Your Paint Sprayer

Adjusting Spray Patterns

The sprayer offers three adjustable spray patterns to suit different project needs:

  • Horizontal 90°: Ideal for moving the sprayer up and down, covering vertical surfaces.
  • Circular 45°: Best for free movement and detailed work.
  • Vertical 180°: Suitable for moving the sprayer side to side, covering horizontal surfaces.

Flow Control Adjustment

The adjustable flow control knob allows you to fine-tune the paint output from 0ml/min to 450ml/min, ensuring a smooth and even finish.

  • Turn the knob clockwise to decrease paint flow.
  • Turn the knob counter-clockwise to increase paint flow.

Spraying Techniques

  • Test Spray: Always test the spray pattern on a piece of cardboard or scrap material at a distance of approximately 20cm before applying to your project.
  • Even Strokes: Maintain a consistent distance and speed while spraying to ensure an even coat. Overlapping each pass by about 50% helps achieve uniform coverage.
  • Protect Surfaces: Use high-quality tape and masking materials to protect any surfaces you do not wish to paint.

Care and Maintenance

Post-Use Cleaning

Immediate and thorough cleaning after each use is essential to prevent paint buildup, ensure optimal performance, and extend the product's lifespan.

  1. Empty Paint: Disconnect the power. Empty any remaining paint from the container.
  2. Initial Rinse: Fill the container with clean water (for water-based paints) or appropriate cleaning solution (for oil-based paints/lacquers).
  3. Spray Clean: Reconnect power and spray the cleaning solution through the gun until the output is completely clear, with no visible pigment.
  4. Disassemble: Unplug the sprayer. Disassemble the nozzle, air cap, and paint container.
  5. Thorough Cleaning: Clean all disassembled parts with the cleaning brush and appropriate solution. Pay special attention to the nozzle and air cap to remove all paint residue.
  6. Dry and Store: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing.

Important: The spray gun should be tilted downwards during cleaning. Avoid water flowing back into the motor during cleaning to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Expert Spray Tips & Advice

Common issues and their causes:

  • Clogged Nozzles: Caused by using unfiltered or improperly thinned paint. Ensure paint is filtered and thinned to the correct viscosity.
  • Uneven Coverage: Often due to incorrect paint thinning or inconsistent spraying technique. Verify paint viscosity and practice even strokes.
  • Premature Gun Wear: Can result from using unfiltered paint, leading to abrasive particles damaging internal components. Always filter paint.
