Setup and Mounting

Proper mounting is crucial for optimal performance and accuracy. Ensure your rifle is unloaded and safe before proceeding.

  1. Choose Appropriate Mounts: Select high-quality 35mm scope rings or a one-piece mount compatible with your rifle's Picatinny rail.
  2. Secure the Mount: Attach the scope mount securely to your rifle's rail, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications as per the mount manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Position the Scope: Place the XED 6-36x56 scope into the lower half of the rings. Adjust the scope's position forward or backward to achieve proper eye relief when shouldering the rifle.
  4. Level the Reticle: Use a scope leveling tool to ensure the reticle is perfectly level with the rifle. This prevents canting errors that can affect accuracy at long distances.
  5. Tighten Rings: Install the top halves of the scope rings. Gradually tighten the ring screws in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's recommended torque settings. Avoid overtightening, which can damage the scope tube.

Operating Instructions

1. Adjusting Magnification

The XED 6-36x56 offers a wide magnification range. Rotate the magnification ring (located near the eyepiece) to adjust between 6x and 36x. The First Focal Plane (FFP) reticle ensures that the reticle subtensions remain accurate at all magnification settings.

2. Parallax Adjustment

Parallax is the apparent movement of the reticle in relation to the target when the shooter's eye moves. The side parallax adjustment knob (Figure 2) allows you to eliminate parallax error. Rotate the knob until the target appears sharp and the reticle shows no movement relative to the target when you slightly move your head. The parallax can be adjusted from 40 yards to infinity.

3. Elevation and Windage Adjustments (Turrets)

The scope features exposed turrets for elevation and windage adjustments. Each click represents 0.25 MOA. To adjust, lift the turret, rotate to the desired setting, and push down to lock. The elevation turret has an upgraded Zero Stop feature.

4. Setting the Zero Stop

The Zero Stop mechanism allows for a quick and precise return to your established zero. After zeroing your rifle at your preferred distance, follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the set screws on the elevation turret cap.
  2. Lift the turret cap and rotate it until the "0" mark aligns with the indicator line on the scope body.
  3. Carefully push the turret cap back down and tighten the set screws.
  4. The Zero Stop is now set, preventing you from dialing below your zero point.

5. Reticle Illumination

The XED 6-36x56 features an illuminated FFP Christmas Tree reticle. The illumination control is typically located on the side parallax knob. Rotate the illumination dial to adjust the brightness level of the reticle for various lighting conditions.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use the included cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Gently wipe away dust and debris. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning solution applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Cleaning Body: Wipe the scope body with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the scope in a dry, cool place, preferably in its original packaging or a protective case, to prevent dust accumulation and accidental damage.
  • Weather Protection: While the scope is weatherproof, it is recommended to use lens caps when not in use, especially in adverse weather conditions, to protect the lenses.
