Setup
1. Attaching the Guard
Align the guard with the mounting points on the trimmer head. Secure it firmly using the provided fasteners. Ensure the guard is properly seated before operation to prevent debris from being thrown towards the user.

2. Attaching the Auxiliary Handle
Slide the auxiliary handle onto the shaft. Adjust its position for comfortable and balanced operation, then tighten the clamp securely.

3. Installing/Replacing Plastic Blades (Brush Cutter)
For heavy-duty brush cutting, attach the brush cutter head and install the reinforced plastic blades. These blades are tool-free for quick changes.

4. Inserting the Battery
Ensure your Greenworks 40V battery (4.0Ah recommended for heavy brush) is fully charged. Slide the battery into the battery compartment until it clicks securely into place.

5. Attaching the Shoulder Strap
Attach the shoulder strap to the designated attachment point on the trimmer shaft. Adjust the strap length for comfortable weight distribution, reducing fatigue during extended use.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
To power on, press the safety lock-out button and then squeeze the trigger. Release the trigger to power off the tool.
2. Adjusting the Telescoping Shaft
The telescoping shaft adjusts from 40 to 52 inches, accommodating users from 5'2" to 6'4". Loosen the collar, extend or retract the shaft to your desired length, and then tighten the collar securely.

3. Adjusting the 7-Position Pivoting Head
The trimmer head features a 7-position pivot for versatile trimming and edging. Adjust the head to the appropriate angle for different tasks, such as trimming under decks, along fence lines, or detailing flower beds.

4. Switching between Trimmer and Edger Mode
The 2-in-1 design allows for quick conversion between trimming and edging modes in three clicks. Rotate the head to the desired position and engage the steel edging guide for precise borders.

5. Auto-Feed Line Advancement
The trimmer features a 0.065-inch auto-feed line system. To advance the line, simply release the trigger and then re-engage it. The line will automatically extend to the correct length, and any excess will be cut by the built-in blade.

6. General Trimming and Edging Tips
- Maintain a steady pace and keep the trimmer head level for an even cut.
- For edging, use the steel guide along hard surfaces like sidewalks and driveways.
- Avoid hitting hard objects like rocks or metal, as this can damage the line or blades.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Tool
After each use, remove the battery and clean the trimmer head, guard, and shaft with a damp cloth. Remove any accumulated grass, dirt, or debris to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
2. Replacing Trimmer Line
When the trimmer line runs out, replace it with 0.065-inch diameter line. Refer to the specific instructions for spool replacement in the full manual.
3. Battery Care
Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store the battery in a discharged state. Always charge the battery fully before storage and periodically during long storage periods.
