5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill Water Tank: Open the lid and fill the water tank with the desired amount of fresh, cold water. Use the water level indicator for precise measurement. Do not exceed the 'MAX' line.
  2. Add Coffee: Place the permanent filter into the filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. For best results, use approximately one level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup (150ml). Close the lid securely.
  3. Position Carafe: Ensure the empty glass carafe is correctly placed on the heating plate.
  4. Start Brewing: Press the power button (I/O) on the control panel. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
  5. Keep Warm: After brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to a keep-warm function for approximately 40 minutes. The heating plate will keep your coffee at an optimal serving temperature.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the carafe from the heating plate to pour coffee. The anti-drip system will temporarily stop the flow of coffee.

5.2 Programming Delayed Brewing (24-Hour Timer)

You can program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time up to 24 hours in advance.

  1. Prepare Coffee Maker: Follow steps 1 and 2 from '5.1 Brewing Coffee' (fill water, add coffee).
  2. Set Program Time: Press the 'Prog' button. The display will flash. Use the 'Hr' and 'Min' buttons to set the desired start time for brewing.
  3. Activate Program: Press the 'Prog' button again to confirm the programmed time. A small 'PROG' indicator will appear on the display, indicating that the delayed brewing is activated.
  4. Automatic Start: The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the set time.
  5. Cancel Program: To cancel the programmed brewing, simply press the power button (I/O) before the programmed time is reached.

5.3 Aroma Function

To enhance the flavor of your coffee, you can activate the Aroma function. This function slows down the brewing process, allowing for a richer extraction.

  • After preparing the coffee maker for brewing (water and coffee added), press the 'Aroma' button. An 'AROMA' indicator will appear on the display.
  • Then, press the power button (I/O) to start brewing with the Aroma function activated.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the coffee maker from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Discard Grounds: Remove the filter basket and permanent filter. Discard used coffee grounds.
  3. Wash Parts: Wash the carafe, permanent filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts may also be top-rack dishwasher safe (check product markings).
  4. Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker, including the heating plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.

6.2 Descaling

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 2-4 weeks, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water, or use a commercial descaling solution designed for coffee makers, following the product instructions.
  2. Fill Water Tank: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank up to the 1.5L mark.
  3. Run Cycle: Place the empty carafe on the heating plate. Start a brewing cycle without coffee. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
  4. Complete Cycle: Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
  5. Rinse: Discard the descaling solution. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water and run at least two full brewing cycles with only water to rinse out any residual descaling solution.
