Please read and understand all safety warnings and operating instructions before using this instrument. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

General Safety Warnings:

  • Always adhere to local and national safety codes.
  • Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the insulation on the test leads is compromised.
  • Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked on the meter, between the terminals or between any terminal and ground.
  • Use extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • Keep fingers behind the finger guards on the test leads during use.
  • Remove test leads from the circuit before changing functions.
  • Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings and prevent electric shock.
  • Do not operate the meter in explosive gas, vapor, or dust environments.

Measurement Category (CAT) Ratings:

This meter is rated for CAT III 300V and CAT II 600V. Understanding these categories is crucial for safe operation:

  • CAT III (300V): For measurements performed in the building installation at the distribution level, such as on distribution boards, circuit breakers, wiring, including cables, bus-bars, junction boxes, switches, socket outlets in the fixed installation, and equipment for industrial use and some other equipment, e.g., stationary motors with permanent connection to the fixed installation.
  • CAT II (600V): For measurements performed on circuits directly connected to the low-voltage installation, such as household appliances, portable tools, and similar equipment.

Always use test leads that comply with the meter's CAT rating and voltage level.

  1. Ensure the meter is turned OFF.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  3. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  4. Insert three AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads

For voltage, resistance, continuity, and diode measurements, connect the provided test leads.

  • Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) input terminal.
  • Insert the red test lead into the VΩ input terminal.

Ensure the test leads are fully inserted and securely connected before taking any measurements.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

  • To turn the meter ON, rotate the function dial from the 'OFF' position to any desired measurement function.
  • To turn the meter OFF, rotate the function dial back to the 'OFF' position.

6.2 Measuring AC/DC Current (Clamp)

Use the clamp jaw to measure AC or DC current without breaking the circuit.

  1. Rotate the function dial to the desired current range (e.g., 100A∼, 20A∼, 2A∼).
  2. Press the SELECT/V.F.C button to toggle between AC (∼) and DC (-) current measurement if applicable for the selected range.
  3. Open the clamp jaw by pressing the trigger.
  4. Encircle only one conductor with the clamp jaw. Ensure the jaw is fully closed.
  5. Read the current value on the LCD display.

6.3 Measuring AC/DC Voltage

Use the test leads to measure AC or DC voltage.

  1. Connect the test leads as described in Section 5.2.
  2. Rotate the function dial to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage) position.
  3. If the dial position is combined (e.g., V~ and V-), press the SELECT/V.F.C button to choose between AC or DC voltage.
  4. Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component you wish to measure.

6.4 Measuring Resistance, Continuity, Diode, and Capacitance

These functions typically share a dial position. Use the SELECT/V.F.C button to cycle through them.

  1. Connect the test leads as described in Section 5.2.
  2. Rotate the function dial to the (Resistance/Continuity/Diode/Capacitance) position.
  3. Press the SELECT/V.F.C button repeatedly until the desired function (Ω for resistance, M for continuity, →| for diode, or ⊥ for capacitance) is indicated on the display.
  4. For Resistance: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the test leads across the component.
  5. For Continuity: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the test leads across the component. A beep indicates continuity.
  6. For Diode Test: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode. The forward voltage drop will be displayed. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit.
  7. For Capacitance: Ensure the capacitor is discharged before testing. Connect the test leads across the capacitor.
  8. Read the measurement on the LCD display.

6.5 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

The NCV function allows for quick detection of AC voltage without direct contact.

  1. Rotate the function dial to the NCV position.
  2. Move the NCV sensor (located at the top of the clamp jaw) close to the conductor or outlet.
  3. If AC voltage is detected, the meter will emit an audible beep and the NCV indicator light will illuminate. The intensity of the beeping and light may increase with stronger voltage.

6.6 Data Hold Function

To freeze the current reading on the display:

  • Press the HOLD/☼ button briefly during a measurement. The 'HOLD' indicator will appear on the display.
  • Press the button again to release the hold and resume live measurements.

6.7 Backlight Activation

To illuminate the LCD display in dark environments:

  • Press and hold the HOLD/☼ button for approximately 2 seconds.
  • Repeat the action to turn off the backlight.

6.8 Auto Power Off (APO)

The meter is equipped with an Auto Power Off feature to conserve battery life. If no button is pressed or the function dial is not rotated for approximately 15 minutes, the meter will automatically turn off. To reactivate, rotate the function dial or press any button.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the meter's casing with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
