Key Features

Setup

1. Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the "Key Features" section under "Complete Kit" are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact POWERTEC customer support immediately.

2. Preparing Your Router Table

Ensure your router table opening is clean and free of debris. The POWERTEC insert plate measures 9-1/2 inches by 11-3/4 inches. Confirm that your table's opening is compatible with these dimensions. If building a custom table, ensure the recess for the plate is precisely cut to these measurements.

3. Mounting Your Router to the Plate

  1. Identify the pre-drilled holes on the insert plate that match your router's base plate mounting pattern. Refer to the compatibility chart provided in the "Specifications" section or the image below for guidance.
  2. Align your router's base with the corresponding holes on the underside of the POWERTEC insert plate.
  3. Secure the router to the plate using the four flat head screws provided in the kit. Ensure the router is firmly attached and centered.

4. Installing and Leveling the Insert Plate

  1. Place the assembled router and insert plate into the opening of your router table.
  2. Locate the eight leveling points around the perimeter of the insert plate.
  3. Using the provided Allen wrench, adjust the leveling screws (either 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch, depending on your table's depth) at each point. Turn the screws clockwise to raise the plate and counter-clockwise to lower it.
  4. Adjust each screw incrementally until the insert plate is perfectly flush with the surface of your router table. Use a straightedge to check for flatness across the entire surface.

Operating Instructions

1. Selecting and Changing Reducer Rings

The kit includes four reducer rings: solid, 1-inch, 1-7/8-inch, and 2-5/8-inch. Choose the ring that provides the smallest opening necessary for your router bit, ensuring maximum support for the workpiece and minimizing the gap around the bit.

  1. To install a ring, align its tabs with the slots in the insert plate and gently press down until it locks into place.
  2. To remove a ring, insert the included ring wrench into the two small holes on the ring and twist counter-clockwise to unlock, then lift it out.

2. Using the Starting Pin

The starting pin is useful for freehand routing, especially when routing curves or when a fence cannot be used. It provides a pivot point and helps control the workpiece as it enters the router bit.

  1. Insert the starting pin into the designated hole on the insert plate.
  2. When routing, bring the workpiece into contact with the starting pin first, then pivot it into the router bit. This helps prevent kickback and provides a more controlled start to your cut.

3. Utilizing Centerline Markings

The laser-engraved centerline markings on the insert plate assist in quick and precise fence adjustments. These markings allow you to accurately position your router fence relative to the router bit for consistent and repeatable cuts.
