6. Operating the Scanner
6.1 Scanning Barcodes
The BCST-23 scanner is equipped with a 300,000-pixel 2D module, enabling it to decode most 1D and 2D barcodes, including those that are blurry, damaged, dirty, wrinkled, or distorted. (Note: Inverted DM barcodes are not supported).
Image: Examples of various 1D (Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A) and 2D (QR Code, Data Matrix) barcodes that the scanner can successfully decode, indicating its super decoding ability.
- Point the scanning window at the barcode you wish to scan.
- Press and hold the trigger button. A scanning light will appear.
- Ensure the entire barcode is within the scanning light's area.
- Upon successful scan, the scanner will emit a beep and/or vibrate, and the indicator light will flash. The data will be transmitted to your connected device.
6.2 Scanning Modes
The scanner supports multiple operational modes to suit different environments:
- Manual Scan Mode: Press the trigger button for each scan.
- Continuous Scan Mode: The scanner continuously emits scanning light and reads barcodes without needing to press the trigger each time.
- Hands-free Mode: Often used with a stand, the scanner automatically detects and scans barcodes placed in its field of view.
Refer to the Quick Start Guide or Inateck Scanner App for instructions on how to switch between these modes using configuration barcodes.
6.3 Data Upload Modes
The scanner offers two primary data upload modes:
Image: Depiction of two data upload modes: Instant Upload, where scanned data is immediately sent to a connected device, and Storage Mode, where up to 270,000 13-character barcodes can be stored internally before manual upload.
- Instant Upload Mode: Data is immediately transmitted to the connected device upon scanning. This is the default mode.
- Storage Mode (Inventory Mode): If the scanner is out of range or not connected, scanned barcodes are stored in the scanner's internal memory. The scanner can store up to 270,000 barcodes (13 characters in length). Data can be uploaded later when a connection is established.
To switch to Storage Mode or upload stored data, scan the corresponding configuration barcodes provided in the Quick Start Guide.
6.4 Inateck Scanner App and SDK
The Inateck Scanner App (available for Android and iOS) provides an easy way to configure your scanner, manage connections, and view battery status. For developers, an SDK is available for seamless integration into ERP systems, supporting languages like Python, Kotlin, Java, C, JavaScript, TypeScript, Objective C, and Swift.

- SDK Integration: Allows for custom application development and integration with existing business systems for enhanced productivity.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lens cleaning cloth and solution if necessary. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For long-term storage, ensure the battery is charged to about 50-70% to preserve its lifespan. Recharge every 3-6 months if not in use.
- Durability: The scanner is encased in soft rubber and is 1.2 meters drop-resistant, providing enhanced protection against accidental drops.
