2. Safety Information

  • Placement: Place the humidor on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources (e.g., stoves, radiators), and excessive moisture. Allow adequate ventilation space around the unit.
  • Water Usage: When refilling the humidity system, use only distilled water to prevent mineral buildup and ensure proper operation.
  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth for exterior surfaces and a dry cloth for the interior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the humidor out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidents or damage.

4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the humidor from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Retain packaging for future transport if needed.
  2. Placement: Choose a suitable location. The humidor is designed for floor mounting. Ensure the surface is level and sturdy enough to support the unit's weight (approximately 236 pounds). Allow at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space behind and on the sides for proper ventilation. Avoid placing it near direct sunlight or heat sources.
  3. Leveling: Use the adjustable legs at the bottom of the unit to ensure it is perfectly level. This is crucial for proper door sealing and efficient operation.
  4. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the interior and exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  5. Seasoning the Humidor:
    • Fill the water reservoir (if applicable) with distilled water.
    • Place a small dish of distilled water inside the humidor for 24-48 hours to allow the Spanish cedar wood to absorb moisture.
    • Once the humidity stabilizes within the desired range (60-75%), the humidor is ready for cigar storage.
  6. Power Connection: Plug the humidor into a dedicated, grounded electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off: Press the power button on the control panel to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Setting Temperature: Use the temperature control buttons (usually up/down arrows) on the digital display to set your desired temperature between 62-74°F (16.7-23.3°C). The unit will automatically adjust to maintain this setting.
  3. Setting Humidity: The HPR system automatically manages humidity. If there are manual controls, use them to set the desired humidity between 60-75%. Ensure the water reservoir is adequately filled with distilled water for the humidity system to function correctly.
  4. Fingerprint Lock:
    • Refer to the dedicated section in the full manual for initial setup and programming of fingerprint access.
    • To unlock, place your registered finger on the sensor.
  5. App Control Function:
    • Download the official Afidano app from your device's app store.
    • Follow the in-app instructions to pair your humidor with your smartphone or tablet.
    • Once paired, you can monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, and other settings remotely.
  6. LED Lighting: The interior LED light can typically be toggled on or off via a button on the control panel or through the app.
  7. Loading Cigars: Arrange cigars on the Spanish cedar shelves and in the drawers. Ensure proper air circulation by not overfilling.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your humidor.

  • Cleaning the Interior:
    • Periodically remove cigars and shelves.
    • Wipe the interior surfaces with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn spots, a slightly damp cloth with distilled water can be used, but ensure the interior is completely dry before replacing cigars.
    • Do not use soap or chemical cleaners inside the humidor, as their odors can be absorbed by cigars.
  • Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces, including the glass door, with a soft, damp cloth. For glass, a non-abrasive glass cleaner can be used, applied to the cloth first, not directly to the humidor.
  • Water Reservoir Refill: Regularly check the water reservoir for the humidity system. Refill with distilled water as needed. The frequency will depend on ambient conditions and how often the door is opened.
  • Spanish Cedar Shelves: The cedar wood naturally absorbs and releases moisture. Do not wash the shelves. If they become stained, gently wipe with a dry cloth.
  • Door Seal: Inspect the door gasket regularly for any signs of wear or damage. A good seal is critical for maintaining stable internal conditions. Clean the gasket with a damp cloth if necessary.
