Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safety and performance of your Thule Force 3 M cargo box.

  1. Prepare Your Vehicle: Ensure your vehicle's roof rack system is correctly installed and rated for the combined weight of the cargo box and its contents. Refer to your vehicle's and roof rack's owner's manuals for maximum load capacity.
  2. Position the Cargo Box: Carefully lift the cargo box onto your vehicle's roof bars. Center the box both front-to-back and side-to-side. Ensure there is sufficient clearance for your vehicle's rear hatch to open fully without contacting the box.

  4. Secure with PowerClick System: Open the cargo box lid. Locate the PowerClick mounting claws inside the box. Rotate the knobs until the claws firmly grip the roof bars. The integrated torque indicator will "click" when the optimal tightness is reached, ensuring a secure fit without overtightening. Repeat for all mounting points.
  5. Verify Security: After tightening all mounting points, gently push and pull on the cargo box to ensure it is securely attached to the roof bars. Close and lock the lid.

Operating Instructions

The Thule Force 3 M is designed for ease of use.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your Thule Force 3 M cargo box.

  • Cleaning: Clean the cargo box with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the AeroSkin finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the lock cylinders and hinges with a non-petroleum-based lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the cargo box in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight. If storing outdoors, consider a protective cover.
  • Pre-Trip Check: Always check the security of the mounting system and the lid lock before each trip.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Lid does not close or lock properly.
Solution: Ensure no items are obstructing the lid's closing mechanism. Check that the PowerClick mounting claws are not overtightened, which can warp the base. Verify that the key is fully inserted and turned.
Problem: Excessive wind noise or vibration.
Solution: Confirm the cargo box is securely mounted and all PowerClick knobs are tightened until they click. Ensure the box is centered on the roof bars. Reduce vehicle speed if necessary.
Problem: Water leakage inside the box.
Solution: Check the rubber seals around the lid for any damage or debris. Ensure the lid is fully closed and locked.
