3. Installation

The FIREGAS Telescopic Range Hood can be installed under a cabinet or mounted on a wall, supporting both ducted (extraction) and recirculation modes.

3.1 Mounting Options

  • Under Cabinet Mounting: The hood is designed to integrate seamlessly under kitchen cabinets.
  • Wall Mounting: The hood can also be mounted directly on a wall.

3.2 Ventilation Modes

  • Ducted Mode: Air is extracted and expelled outside through a ducting system.
  • Recirculation Mode: Air is filtered through carbon filters to remove odors and then recirculated back into the kitchen. Carbon filters are included for this mode.

3.3 Installation Steps (General Guidelines)

  1. Preparation: Ensure the installation area is clear and the power supply is disconnected. Refer to the dimension diagram for proper placement.
  2. Marking: Use the provided template or measure carefully to mark drilling points for mounting screws.
  3. Mounting: Secure the range hood to the cabinet or wall using the screws and wall plugs from the installation kit.
  4. Ducting/Recirculation Setup:
    • For ducted mode, connect the exhaust pipe to the hood and lead it to an external vent.
    • For recirculation mode, install the carbon filters (refer to Section 5.2) and ensure the air outlet is unobstructed for filtered air return.
  5. Electrical Connection: Connect the range hood to a suitable power outlet.
  6. Final Check: Ensure the hood is securely mounted and all connections are tight.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your range hood.

5.1 Cleaning Aluminum Grease Filters

The aluminum grease filters capture airborne grease particles. They should be cleaned regularly (approximately every 2-4 weeks, depending on usage) to maintain efficiency and prevent fire hazards.

  1. Removal: Carefully unlatch and remove the aluminum filters from the hood.
  2. Cleaning: Wash the filters by hand in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
  3. Drying and Reinstallation: Allow filters to dry completely before reinserting them into the hood. Ensure they are securely latched.

5.2 Replacing Carbon Filters (Recirculation Mode Only)

If your hood is operating in recirculation mode, the carbon filters absorb cooking odors. These filters cannot be washed and must be replaced every 3-6 months, depending on usage.

  1. Access: Remove the aluminum grease filters to access the carbon filters.
  2. Removal: Twist or unclip the old carbon filters from their housing.
  3. Installation: Install new carbon filters, ensuring they are securely attached.
  4. Reassemble: Reinstall the aluminum grease filters.

5.3 Exterior Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the hood with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the finish.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your range hood, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Hood not operating:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet.
    • Verify that the circuit breaker or fuse has not tripped.
    • Ensure the telescopic panel is fully extended to activate the hood (if using memory function).
  • Poor suction performance:
    • Clean or replace the aluminum grease filters.
    • If in recirculation mode, replace the carbon filters.
    • Check for obstructions in the ducting system (if in ducted mode).
    • Ensure windows and doors are not creating excessive drafts that interfere with airflow.
  • Excessive noise:
    • Ensure the hood is securely mounted and all screws are tightened.
    • Check for loose components or foreign objects inside the fan housing.
    • Verify that the ducting (if applicable) is properly installed and not vibrating.
  • Lights not working:
    • Check if the light switch is in the 'on' position.
    • If the LED is integrated, contact customer support for assistance.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact FIREGAS customer support.
