Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. Please follow these steps carefully. For detailed visual guidance, refer to the included diagrams.
1. Prepare the CPU Socket
- Ensure your CPU is correctly installed in its socket on the motherboard.
- Clean the CPU surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove any residue.

2. Install Mounting Brackets
Attach the appropriate mounting brackets for your CPU socket (Intel LGA 1851/1700 or AMD AM5/AM4) to the pump head. Ensure the notch on the bracket aligns correctly with the pump head.

3. Mount the Pump Head
Carefully place the pump head onto the CPU, ensuring even contact. Tighten the screws in a diagonal pattern to secure the pump head firmly but without excessive force.

4. Radiator and Tubing Installation
The Hydroshift II features an innovative side-mounted tubing design to reduce visual clutter. The USB power and data cables are integrated directly into the cooling tubes.

Use the pre-installed tube support brackets to neatly conceal the water cooling tubes. These brackets help maintain an organized interior. The rightmost tube bracket can be fine-tuned at the 140mm position on the radiator mount for optimal routing.

5. Cable Connections
- PWM Power Cable: Connect the 4-pin PWM cable to a CPU_FAN, AIO_PUMP, or PUMP header on your motherboard. Ensure the BIOS setting for this port is set to "PWM/DC" mode (not Auto) and full speed for stable power.
- USB 2.0 Cable: Connect the USB 2.0 cable to an available USB 2.0 header on your motherboard. This is required for Streaming Mode and advanced wireless mode features, including media uploads.

6. Fan Installation (Optional, for models without pre-installed fans)
If your Hydroshift II 360 model did not come with pre-installed fans, attach your chosen 120mm fans to the radiator using the appropriate screws. Ensure the fan airflow direction is optimized for your case configuration (e.g., intake or exhaust).
7. Flexible Layout and Compatibility Considerations
The Hydroshift II is designed for flexible installation. Consider the following scenarios:
- Scenario 1: Sufficient Clearance (e.g., O11 Vision Compact case)
For cases with ample space between the radiator and motherboard, the standard installation with tube support brackets is suitable. The rightmost tube bracket can be adjusted.

- Scenario 2: Limited Clearance (e.g., LANCOOL 216 case)
If clearance is limited, the vertical bracket may need to be repositioned directly behind the CPU. Excess tubing should be routed behind the radiator. The leftmost tubing support bracket might need to be removed.

- Scenario 3: Tight Clearance (e.g., LANCOOL 207 case)
In very tight spaces, you may need to remove both the vertical bracket and reposition both tubing support brackets. Excess tubing should be routed behind the radiator. Tube clips can be installed depending on available space.

Operation and Control Modes
The Lian Li Hydroshift II 360 offers three distinct control modes for its 2.1-inch IPS LCD screen and lighting effects.
1. Offline Mode (No USB Connection Required)
In Offline Mode, you can adjust LED and LCD content directly using the rotatable cap on the pump. Rotate the transparent outer ring to switch screen themes (clockwise) or adjust lighting effects (counter-clockwise). This mode displays essential information like coolant temperature and pump speed without needing a USB connection.

2. Wireless Mode (No USB Connection)
Utilize the L-Wireless Controller (sold separately or included with specific models) to wirelessly adjust screen content, select hardware information to monitor, and synchronize lighting effects with other Lian Li wireless devices. This mode offers convenient remote control without a direct USB connection to the PC.

For advanced customization in Wireless Mode, connect the USB cable. This allows for full customization capabilities, including video and photo uploads, modular assets, and theme selection, while maintaining wireless lighting synchronization.

3. Streaming Mode (USB Connected)
Connect the Hydroshift II via USB to your PC to unlock full customization through the L-Connect 3 software. This mode supports various media formats like MP4 and GIF for personalized displays, allowing for extensive control over the LCD screen's content and effects.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your liquid CPU cooler.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean the radiator fins and any installed fans with compressed air to prevent dust buildup, which can impede cooling performance.
- Tubing Inspection: Visually inspect the tubing for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Pump Head Cleaning: Gently wipe the pump head and LCD screen with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
- Software Updates: Keep the L-Connect 3 software updated to the latest version to benefit from performance improvements, new features, and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Lian Li Hydroshift II 360 Liquid CPU Cooler.
Issue: L-Connect 3 does not detect the cooler or USB is not detected.
Possible Cause: Insufficient power from the connected PWM port or incorrect BIOS settings.
Solution:
- Enter your motherboard's BIOS settings.
- Locate the settings for the PWM port where the cooler's 4-pin cable is connected (e.g., CPU_FAN, AIO_PUMP, or PUMP).
- Change the control mode for this port from "Auto" to "PWM/DC" mode.
- Ensure the port is set to run at "Full Speed" to provide adequate power.
- Verify the USB 2.0 cable is securely connected to both the cooler and the motherboard header.
Issue: High CPU temperatures.
Possible Cause: Improper installation, insufficient thermal paste, dust buildup, or pump malfunction.
Solution:
- Re-check pump head installation to ensure even contact with the CPU.
- Verify that thermal paste was applied correctly and adequately.
- Clean the radiator fins and fans (if installed) to remove dust.
- Ensure the pump is receiving power and operating (check pump speed in L-Connect 3 or via Offline Mode).
- Confirm fans (if installed) are spinning and correctly oriented for airflow.
Issue: Unusual noises from the cooler.
Possible Cause: Air bubbles in the loop, fan noise, or pump issue.
Solution:
- Orient the radiator higher than the pump head to allow air bubbles to collect in the radiator, not the pump.
- Gently tilt your PC case while running to help dislodge air bubbles.
- Check if the noise is coming from the fans; ensure they are securely mounted and not obstructed.
- If the noise persists and sounds like grinding or excessive rattling from the pump, contact customer support.
