1.1 Proper Fit

A helmet must fit snugly to offer maximum protection. If the helmet moves freely on your head, it is too large. Ensure the chin strap is securely fastened at all times when riding.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Inspection

Before first use, carefully inspect the helmet for any manufacturing defects or shipping damage. Ensure all components are securely attached.

3.2 Visor and Sun Shield

The HJ-44 visor and HJ-V12 sun shield come pre-installed. Ensure they operate smoothly and latch securely. If installing an optional Pinlock insert (sold separately), follow the instructions provided with the Pinlock lens.

3.3 Chin Strap Adjustment

The helmet features a double-D ring retention system. To fasten, thread the strap through both D-rings, then back through the first D-ring. Pull tight until snug against your throat. Ensure there is no slack and the helmet cannot be rolled off your head.

4. Operating the Helmet

4.1 Modular Chin Bar Operation

To raise the modular chin bar, locate the release button, typically at the front center of the chin bar. Press the button and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the open position. To close, pull the chin bar down firmly until it latches securely in place. Always ensure it is fully locked before riding.

4.2 Visor and Sun Shield Usage

The main HJ-44 visor can be opened and closed using the tab located on the lower edge. The integrated HJ-V12 sun shield is operated by a slider mechanism, usually on the side of the helmet. Slide it down to deploy and up to retract.

4.3 Ventilation System

The Advanced Channeling Ventilation System features adjustable top and lower vents. Open the vents to increase airflow and close them to reduce it. This system is designed to flush heat and humidity out of the helmet for rider comfort.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Exterior Shell

Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the shell material and graphics. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

5.2 Visor and Sun Shield Care

Clean the visor and sun shield with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive materials or chemical cleaners. For Pinlock inserts, follow the specific cleaning instructions provided with the insert. Avoid scratching the anti-scratch coating.

5.3 Interior Padding

The crown and cheek pads are removable and washable. Gently detach them from the helmet. Hand wash with mild soap and cool water, then air dry completely before re-installing. Ensure they are fully dry to prevent mildew.

5.4 Chin Strap Maintenance

Keep the chin strap clean and free of debris. Inspect the double-D rings for wear or damage. Clean with mild soap and water if necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

• Visor not closing properly: Check for debris in the visor mechanism or ensure the visor is correctly seated on its pivots.
• Modular chin bar not latching: Ensure no obstructions are preventing the chin bar from fully engaging. Apply firm, even pressure when closing.
• Excessive wind noise: Verify all vents are closed if desired, and ensure the visor and chin bar are fully sealed. A proper fit is essential to minimize wind noise.
• Fogging visor: Ensure the Pinlock insert (if installed) is correctly seated. Utilize the ventilation system to increase airflow.
