6. Troubleshooting
6.1. No Internet Connection
- Check the Internet LED on the router. If it's amber, ensure the Ethernet cable from your modem is securely connected to the router's yellow Internet port.
- Restart your modem and then your router. Unplug both devices, wait 30 seconds, then plug in the modem first. Once the modem is fully online, plug in the router.
- Verify your internet service is active with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
6.2. Slow WiFi Speeds
- Ensure your devices are connected to the appropriate WiFi band (6 GHz for newer devices, 5 GHz for high-bandwidth, 2.4 GHz for wider range).
- Move your device closer to the router to improve signal strength.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- Confirm your internet plan supports the speeds you expect.
6.3. Cannot Access Router Settings
- Ensure your device is connected to the router's network.
- Try accessing routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in your web browser.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try a different browser.
- If you forgot your password, you may need to perform a factory reset (see 6.4 Factory Reset).
6.4. Factory Reset
A factory reset restores the router to its default settings. This will erase all custom configurations, including WiFi names and passwords.
- With the router powered on, use a paperclip or similar pointed object to press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for about 7-10 seconds.
- Release the button when the power LED starts blinking.
- The router will restart with factory default settings. You will need to reconfigure it using the Nighthawk app or web interface.
