This image displays the front panel with 4x 2.5Gbps ports (labeled 1-4) and 2x 10G ports (labeled 5-6), along with their respective LED indicators. The rear panel shows the DC Input Port (12V1.0A) and the S&V Dip Switch for VLAN mode selection. The PWR LED indicates power status (On: Powered on, Off: Powered off). Port LEDs indicate connection speed (Orange: 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps, Green: 10/100/1000Mbps).

  • PWR (Power) LED:
    • On: Device is powered on.
    • Off: Device is powered off.
  • Port LEDs (1-6):
    • Orange: Indicates a 2.5Gbps connection (for ports 1-4) or a 10Gbps connection (for ports 5-6).
    • Green: Indicates a 10/100/1000Mbps connection.
  • DC Input Port (12V1.0A): Connect the provided power adapter here.
  • S&V Dip Switch: Used to toggle between Standard Mode (S) and VLAN Mode (V). Refer to Section 4.2 for details.

3. Setup

The YuanLey 6-Port 2.5G/10G Unmanaged Ethernet Network Switch is designed for plug-and-play operation, requiring no complex configuration.

  1. Unpack the Switch: Carefully remove the switch and its accessories from the packaging.
  2. Choose a Location: Place the switch on a stable, flat surface or mount it to a wall using appropriate hardware (not included). Ensure adequate ventilation around the device. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
  3. Connect Network Devices:
    • Connect your 2.5Gbps devices (e.g., NAS, gaming PCs, access points) to ports 1-4 using standard Ethernet cables.
    • Connect your 10Gbps devices (e.g., servers, high-speed workstations) or your main network uplink to ports 5-6 using standard Ethernet cables.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC Input Port on the rear of the switch, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet. The PWR LED will illuminate, indicating the switch is powered on.
  5. Verify Connections: Check the LED indicators for each connected port. An illuminated LED (Green or Orange) indicates a successful link. The color indicates the connection speed as described in Section 2.3.

Figure 2: Typical Application Scenario for the Network Switch.

This image illustrates how the switch can be integrated into a network, connecting high-speed devices such as a 2.5G NAS, 2.5G Gaming PC, and a WiFi 6 Router, leveraging its 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps ports for optimal performance.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Operation (Plug and Play)

Once powered on and connected, the switch operates automatically. It is an unmanaged switch, meaning it requires no software configuration. Devices connected to the switch will automatically negotiate the highest possible speed supported by both the device and the switch port (10/100/1000Mbps, 2.5Gbps, or 10Gbps).

The switch supports full-duplex operation and auto MDI/MDIX, eliminating the need for crossover cables.

4.2 VLAN Mode Operation

The switch features a physical S&V Dip Switch on the rear panel to enable or disable VLAN mode. This allows for simple network segmentation without complex software setup.

  • Standard Mode (S): When the dip switch is set to 'S', all ports (1-6) can communicate with each other freely. This is the default mode for a typical unmanaged switch.
  • VLAN Mode (V): When the dip switch is set to 'V', ports 1-4 are isolated from each other. Each of these ports can only communicate with the 10Gbps uplink ports (ports 5 and 6). This mode is ideal for scenarios where you want to isolate devices connected to ports 1-4 (e.g., IP cameras, multiple access points) while allowing them to access a central server or router connected to ports 5 or 6. This enhances security and reduces broadcast traffic within the isolated segments.

Important: To change the VLAN mode, it is recommended to power off the switch first, adjust the dip switch, and then power the switch back on.

5. Maintenance

The YuanLey switch is designed for reliable, maintenance-free operation. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation holes are not blocked. Although fanless, proper airflow helps dissipate heat.
  • Environment: Operate the switch within the specified temperature and humidity ranges (-10°C to 50°C). Avoid extreme conditions.
  • Power Supply: Use only the provided power adapter. Using an incorrect adapter may damage the device.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power (PWR LED off)Power adapter not connected or faulty; power outlet not working.Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet. Try a different outlet.
No link light for a connected deviceIncorrect cable; faulty cable; device not powered on; device network adapter issue.
  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the switch and the device.
  • Try a different Ethernet cable.
  • Verify the connected device is powered on and its network adapter is functioning correctly.
  • Ensure the cable length does not exceed standard limits (e.g., 100 meters for Cat5e/Cat6).
Slow network speedCable quality; device network adapter speed; network congestion; VLAN mode misconfiguration.
  • Use Cat6a or Cat7 cables for 10Gbps connections, and Cat5e/Cat6 for 2.5Gbps connections.
  • Check the network adapter settings on your connected device to ensure it supports the desired speed.
  • Verify the port LED color matches the expected speed (Orange for 2.5G/10G, Green for 1G).
  • If VLAN mode is enabled, ensure your network topology is compatible with the isolation.
Devices cannot communicate in VLAN modeIncorrect VLAN mode understanding; devices connected to isolated ports trying to communicate directly.
  • In VLAN mode, ports 1-4 are isolated from each other. They can only communicate with ports 5 and 6.
  • If you need all devices to communicate freely, switch the S&V Dip Switch to 'S' (Standard Mode).
