Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your caramco Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Module. This module is designed to integrate seamlessly with your Infiniti Q50's existing display, offering enhanced connectivity without replacing your factory system. It enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, allowing you to access navigation, music, and communication apps directly on your car's screen.

Compatibility

This module is exclusively compatible with Infiniti Q50 models manufactured between 2015.5 and 2019.12. It is designed for vehicles featuring a CarPlay display on the upper screen. It is not suitable for Q50 models from 2013-2015.4. This is a Linux-based system and does not support Google Play or direct app downloads. Video apps are not supported by CarPlay or Android Auto.

Setup and Installation

The caramco module features a 100% plug-and-play design with dedicated connectors, eliminating the need for wire cutting or splicing. However, some technical proficiency is recommended for DIY installation.

Important Installation Notes:

• Hybrid Model Battery Warning: For Infiniti Q50 Hybrid models, the battery capacity is smaller. If the installation process exceeds one hour, connect the car battery to an external power source (charger or maintainer) in parallel to prevent complete battery drain.
• CAN Bus Activation: Keep the driver's door open during installation. This ensures the car's CAN Bus remains active and properly recognizes the module, preventing sensor malfunctions. If issues occur, perform a system reset by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for approximately 20 minutes, then restart the process.
• Check Physical Connections: Thoroughly check all cable connections. Loose or improperly connected cables can lead to issues such as a white screen or screens with colored lines.

Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto

The module provides seamless wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Once connected, your smartphone's compatible apps will mirror directly to your car's display, offering navigation, hands-free messaging, and music streaming.

Dual-System Operation

Your factory system remains fully accessible. To switch between the CarPlay/Android Auto interface and your original Infiniti system, hold the 'Back' button for 3 seconds.

Audio and Microphone

The module utilizes your car's factory microphone for calls and voice commands, requiring no external microphone. For audio, it streams media directly through your car's factory Bluetooth system, providing superior sound quality compared to AUX-only solutions.

How to Get CarPlay/Android Auto Sound:

1. Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is on.
2. Enter CarPlay/Android Auto on the device. Your phone's Bluetooth will automatically disconnect from the car.
3. Your phone's Bluetooth will then reconnect to the car's Bluetooth.
4. Set Bluetooth as the audio source in your car's audio settings.

Note: Ensure both your phone and car's Bluetooth are turned on and discoverable. Some car models may require manual switching of the audio source to Bluetooth.

Native Vehicle Integration

The module maintains full compatibility with your vehicle's OEM protocol, ensuring all original controls, including steering wheel buttons, control knob, and touchscreen, function correctly within the CarPlay/Android Auto interface.

Troubleshooting

• Connection Issues: If CarPlay or Android Auto fails to connect, try restarting both your smartphone and the module. Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your phone.
• Audio Problems: If there is no sound or poor sound quality, verify that Bluetooth is selected as the audio source in your car's infotainment system. Check that your phone's Bluetooth is connected to the car.
• Display Issues (White Screen/Colored Lines): These symptoms often indicate a loose or improperly connected video cable or screen motherboard. Recheck all physical connections as detailed in the installation section.
• System Lag or Unresponsiveness: Ensure your phone's operating system is up to date. If the system occasionally stops working or is laggy, try restarting the module and your phone.
• Voice Call Assistant Configuration: If you experience issues with voice call functionality in both CarPlay/Android Auto and the original Infiniti system, ensure all Bluetooth settings are correctly configured on both your phone and the car's system.
