Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee:
- Ensure the coffee maker is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level, corresponding to the number of cups you wish to brew. Do not exceed the 12-cup maximum fill line.
- Place a standard basket-style paper filter or the reusable filter (if included) into the filter basket.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, adjusted to personal preference.
- Close the top lid securely.
- Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the 'Brew Now' button to start the brewing cycle. The 'Brew Now' indicator light will illuminate.
- The coffee maker will automatically turn off after a period of time.
Strong Brew Selector:
To brew a bolder cup of coffee, press the 'Brew Strength' button until the 'Strong' indicator light is illuminated. This setting will extend the brewing time, allowing for a richer flavor extraction.
Brew Later (Programmable Brewing):
The 'Brew Later' feature allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.
- Prepare the coffee maker with water and ground coffee as described in the 'Brewing Coffee' section.
- Press the 'Set Delay' button. The 'Delay Brew' indicator light will flash.
- Use the 'Hour' and 'Minute' buttons to set the desired brew time.
- Press the 'Set Delay' button again to confirm the setting. The 'Delay Brew' indicator light will remain steadily lit.
- The coffee maker will automatically begin brewing at the programmed time.
Grab-a-Cup Auto Pause:
This feature temporarily stops the flow of coffee if the carafe is removed from the warming plate during the brewing cycle. This allows you to pour a cup before brewing is complete. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow from the filter basket.
Freshness Timer:
The digital display includes a 'Fresh Brew Timer' that indicates how long it has been since the coffee was brewed, helping you monitor coffee freshness.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning:
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Wash the carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.
Automatic Cleaning Cycle:
The coffee maker features an automatic cleaning cycle with a 'Clean' reminder light. When the 'Clean' light illuminates, it indicates that the coffee maker should be descaled.
- Empty the carafe and remove the filter from the filter basket.
- Fill the water reservoir with 4 cups of undiluted white vinegar.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press and hold the 'Clean' button for 3 seconds. The 'Clean' light will illuminate, and the cleaning cycle will begin.
- The cleaning cycle will pause periodically. Once complete, the 'Clean' light will turn off.
- Run two full brewing cycles with fresh water only to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly.
Water Filter Replacement:
The water filtration disk should be replaced approximately every 30 days or after 30 brewing cycles, whichever comes first, to maintain optimal coffee taste.
