2.2 Micro SD Card Installation

The GKU D600Pro supports Micro SD cards up to 256GB (a 64GB card may be included). Ensure the card is Class 10 or higher (U3 recommended) for optimal performance. Before first use, it is recommended to format the Micro SD card within the dash camera settings.

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the dash camera.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing away from the screen until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it clicks, then release to eject.

2.3 Dash Cam Installation (Front Unit)

Choose a location on your windshield that does not obstruct your view and is close to the center of the windshield, ideally behind the rearview mirror.

  1. Clean the chosen area on the windshield thoroughly.
  2. Attach the 3M adhesive mount to the dash camera.
  3. Remove the protective film from the 3M adhesive and firmly press the dash camera onto the windshield for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Adjust the camera lens angle to ensure it captures the road ahead clearly.

2.4 Rear Camera Installation

The rear camera provides a 150-degree view of the vehicle's rear. It connects to the main dash cam unit via an AV-IN cable.

  1. Mount the rear camera on the rear windshield, ensuring a clear view.
  2. Route the AV-IN cable from the rear camera to the main dash cam unit, tucking it neatly along the vehicle's headliner and pillars.
  3. Connect the AV-IN cable to the designated port on the main dash cam.

2.5 OBD Hardwire Kit Connection

The OBD hardwire kit provides continuous power for parking modes and protects against battery drain.

  1. Locate your vehicle's OBD-II port, typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Plug the OBD connector of the hardwire kit into the vehicle's OBD-II port.
  3. Connect the USB-C end of the hardwire kit to the USB-C power input on the dash camera.
  4. Route the cable neatly to avoid interference with driving controls.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Recording

Once powered on, the GKU D600Pro will automatically begin recording. The display will show the live view from the front and/or rear cameras, along with recording indicators.

  • Loop Recording: The dash cam continuously records in short segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the memory card is full, the oldest unlocked files are overwritten.
  • Emergency Lock (G-Sensor): In the event of a sudden impact or collision, the built-in G-sensor will automatically detect the event and lock the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. These locked files are stored in a separate folder.

3.2 Parking Monitoring Modes

With the OBD hardwire kit connected, the D600Pro offers two parking surveillance modes:

  • Collision Detection Mode: When the vehicle is parked and the engine is off, if the G-sensor detects a collision or significant vibration, the dash cam will automatically power on and record a 30-second emergency video.
  • Time-Lapse Recording Mode: This mode records continuously at a low frame rate (e.g., 1, 2, or 5 frames per second) while the vehicle is parked, conserving power and storage space. This provides a condensed overview of events during parking.

3.3 GPS Functionality

The built-in GPS module records precise driving data.

  • Route Tracking: Your driving route can be viewed on Google Maps via the GKU GO app or with the dedicated GPSPlayer software on Windows and Mac.
  • Speed and Coordinates: The recorded video files will embed information about your vehicle's speed, latitude, and longitude.

3.4 Super Night Vision

The D600Pro is equipped with advanced night vision technology to ensure clear recordings even in challenging low-light conditions.

  • F1.8 Aperture: Allows more light to reach the sensor, improving low-light performance.
  • WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Balances exposure in scenes with both very bright and very dark areas, ensuring details are visible.
  • 6-Glass Lens: High-quality optical components for superior image clarity.

4. Maintenance

4.1 SD Card Management

Regular maintenance of your Micro SD card is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent recording issues.

  • Formatting: It is recommended to format the Micro SD card within the dash camera every 2-4 weeks to ensure stable recording and prevent data corruption. This can be done through the camera's menu settings.
  • Card Lifespan: Micro SD cards have a limited number of write cycles. If you experience frequent recording errors or corrupted files, consider replacing the Micro SD card.

4.2 Cleaning the Device

Keep your dash camera clean to ensure clear video quality and proper operation.

  • Lens: Gently wipe the camera lenses with a soft, lint-free cloth (e.g., microfiber cloth) to remove dust or smudges. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Body: Wipe the body of the dash cam with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid getting moisture into ports or openings.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Common Issues

  • Camera not powering on: Check power connections. Ensure the OBD hardwire kit is properly connected and the vehicle's OBD-II port is functional.
  • Recording errors/corrupted files: Format the Micro SD card. If issues persist, try a new, high-quality Micro SD card (Class 10, U3).
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on the dash cam. Restart both the dash cam and your smartphone. Try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network.
  • GPS not tracking: Ensure the dash cam has a clear view of the sky. GPS signal can be affected by tinted windows or underground parking.

5.2 Low Voltage Protection

The OBD hardwire kit includes integrated low voltage protection to safeguard your car battery.

  • If the vehicle's battery voltage drops below 11.8V (±0.2V), the hardwire kit will automatically disconnect power to the dash cam after 60 seconds. This prevents excessive battery drain and ensures enough power remains to start your engine.
  • The system also includes protection against over-current, short-circuit, reverse connection, over-temperature, and high-voltage surges.
  • Note: This device is not suitable for trucks exceeding 24V.
