3. Product Overview

3.1 Physical Components
- Adjustable Antennas: Two external antennas for optimal signal reception and transmission.
- Gigabit Ethernet Port: Connects wired devices like PCs, smart TVs, or gaming consoles.
- WPS/Reset Button: Used for quick setup via WPS or to reset the device to factory defaults.

3.2 LED Indicator
The LED indicator provides information about the extender's status and signal strength.
- Solid Green: The extender is connected to the router and has a good signal strength.
- Solid Orange: The extender is connected to the router but the signal strength is weak, indicating it might be too far from the router.
- Flashing Green: The extender is booting up or WPS connection is in progress.
- Off: The extender is powered off or not functioning correctly.
4. Setup
The ME80X offers multiple methods for initial setup.
4.1 Quick Setup via WPS Button
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) provides a simple way to connect your extender to your router.
- Plug the ME80X into an electrical outlet near your main router.
- Wait for the LED indicator to turn solid green.
- Press the WPS button on your main router.
- Within two minutes, press the WPS/Reset button on your ME80X. The LED will flash green.
- Once the LED turns solid green, the extender is successfully connected.
- Relocate the extender to a suitable location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the LED is solid green for optimal performance. If it's orange, move it closer to the router.

4.2 Setup via MERCUSYS App
The MERCUSYS app allows for convenient setup and management from your mobile device.
- Download the MERCUSYS app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). You can find the app at mercusys.com/app/download-app.
- Plug the ME80X into an electrical outlet.
- Open the MERCUSYS app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your extender.

4.3 Setup via Web Browser
For advanced configuration, you can use a web browser.
- Plug the ME80X into an electrical outlet.
- Connect your computer or mobile device to the extender's Wi-Fi network (e.g., 'MERCUSYS_Extender').
- Open a web browser and enter mwlogin.net or the extender's IP address (check the Quick Installation Guide for default IP).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a login password and configure the extender.
5. Operating Modes
The ME80X supports two primary operating modes.
5.1 Range Extender Mode (RE Mode)
In this mode, the ME80X wirelessly connects to your existing router and extends its Wi-Fi signal to areas with weak or no coverage. This is the default and most common mode of operation.

5.2 Access Point Mode (AP Mode)
In Access Point mode, the ME80X transforms your existing wired network into a wireless one. Connect the ME80X to your router via an Ethernet cable, and it will broadcast a new Wi-Fi network.
- Plug the ME80X into an electrical outlet.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your router's LAN port to the Gigabit Ethernet port on the ME80X.
- Configure the ME80X to AP mode using the web browser interface or the MERCUSYS app.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Firmware Updates
Regularly check for and install firmware updates to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Firmware updates can typically be performed via the MERCUSYS app or the web management interface. Visit the official MERCUSYS website for the latest firmware versions.
6.2 Factory Reset
If the extender is not functioning correctly or you wish to clear all configurations, you can perform a factory reset. With the extender powered on, press and hold the WPS/Reset button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the LED indicator flashes rapidly. Release the button, and the extender will restart with factory default settings.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
- No Internet Access after Setup:
- Ensure the extender is within range of your main router. The LED should be solid green.
- Verify that your main router has an active internet connection.
- Try restarting both your router and the extender.
- If using WPS, ensure you pressed the WPS button on both devices within the time limit.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
- Relocate the extender closer to your main router if the LED is orange.
- Ensure there are no major obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) between the extender and your devices.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- Confirm your main router is providing adequate speed.
- Cannot Access Web Management Page:
- Ensure your device is connected to the extender's Wi-Fi network.
- Verify that you are entering the correct address (mwlogin.net) or IP address.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try a different browser.
- Temporarily disable any VPN or firewall software.
