3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, press the battery release latch (if present) and slide the battery downwards.
3.2 Antenna Attachment
- Locate the antenna connector on the top of the radio.
- Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3.3 Charging the Battery
The UV26 supports two charging methods: via the desktop charger cradle or directly via the Type-C USB port.
Using the Desktop Charger:
- Connect the AC power adapter to the desktop charger cradle and plug it into a power outlet.
- Place the radio (with battery installed) into the charging slot of the cradle. Ensure the charging contacts align.
- The charging indicator light on the cradle will illuminate (typically red) to indicate charging is in progress. It will change color (typically green) when charging is complete.
Using Type-C Direct Charging:
- Locate the Type-C USB port on the side or bottom of the radio.
- Connect the Type-C USB cable to the radio and the other end to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
- The radio's display or an indicator light will show charging status.
Note: Fully charge the battery before first use to ensure optimal performance and battery life.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
- Power On: Rotate the power/volume knob (located on top of the radio) clockwise until you hear a click. The display will illuminate.
- Power Off: Rotate the power/volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the display turns off.
- Volume Adjustment: Rotate the power/volume knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
4.2 Channel Selection and Frequency Input
The UV26 supports both channel mode and frequency mode. Use the V/M button to switch between modes.
- Channel Mode: Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys or the numeric keypad to select a stored channel.
- Frequency Mode: Directly input the desired frequency using the numeric keypad.

4.3 Transmitting and Receiving
- Receiving: When a signal is detected on the current frequency/channel, the radio will automatically open the squelch and output the audio.
- Transmitting (PTT): Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio to transmit. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
4.4 Bluetooth APP Programming
The UV26 features Bluetooth connectivity for convenient programming via a mobile application. This allows for easy customization of frequencies, channels, and other settings.
- Download the official Baofeng programming application from your mobile device's app store.
- Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device and on the UV26 radio (refer to the radio's menu for Bluetooth activation).
- Open the application and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your UV26 radio.
- Once connected, you can read, write, and modify radio data, including channel frequencies, CTCSS/DCS codes, and other parameters.

4.5 GPS Functionality
The built-in GPS module provides accurate location tracking. Access the GPS menu on the radio to view your current coordinates. This feature is particularly useful for navigation and emergency situations in outdoor environments.

4.6 NOAA Weather Reception
