Lithium Battery Care
Proper care of your lithium battery ensures its performance and lifespan. Adhere to these guidelines:
- Regularly inspect the battery, leads, casing, and connections for damage or wear.
- Clean away excess dirt or debris with a brush and wipe down the battery casing with a damp cloth after playing golf.
- Do not clean the MGI buggy using a pressure washer, tap, or hose.
- Charge the battery under cover, preferably indoors in a well-ventilated area, on a solid floor (e.g., concrete).
- Do not charge batteries in a car or on surfaces like carpets or rugs.
- Keep the charging battery clear of heaters, radiators, air conditioners, naked flame, and away from rain or water.
- Ensure the power connection has no faults; do not use power boards or extension leads as sparks can cause battery fires.
- The battery must be charged after every use, regardless of the time used.
- When charging, the ambient temperature should be between 5°C and 30°C.
- Do not leave the battery connected to the powered charger for longer than 10 hours.

Troubleshooting
Identifying Damaged Batteries
It is crucial to identify signs of battery damage to ensure safety and proper function:
- Locking Lever: A locking lever that is difficult to operate could indicate battery damage.
- Plastic Shell: Pay attention to cracks and damage to the battery housing, as this can allow water ingress, posing a fire risk.
- Water Indicators: Newer lithium batteries have water indicators. If these are triggered, the battery needs to be inspected by an MGI repairer.
- Performance Issues: Not all damage is visible. Signs of lack in performance may indicate internal damage.
Water Immersion Protocol
If your MGI lithium battery becomes submerged in water, fully or partially, even for a moment, discontinue its use immediately. It cannot be reused and must not be reconnected to the buggy or charger. Residual water and debris will remain in the terminals, and subsequent connection could cause arcing and/or short-circuiting. Water-damaged lithium batteries pose a significant fire risk and must be disposed of responsibly.
WARNING: DO NOT USE YOUR MGI BATTERY IF IT HAS BEEN IMMERSED IN WATER. Ingress of water or moisture into the battery or buggy will void all stipulated warranties on the affected parts.
Avoid driving your buggy through deep puddles where water reaches the base of the axles. MGI classifies this depth of water as a deep puddle, and the battery must not be used.
