Setup

1. Insert SIM Cards

Locate the SIM holders on the front panel. Use the provided SIM adapter kit if necessary to fit your SIM cards. Insert up to two active SIM cards into the slots. The router supports Dual SIM functionality for failover and load balancing.

2. Connect Antennas

Attach the provided WiFi, GNSS, and Mobile Antennas to their respective connectors on the top panel. Ensure they are securely fastened for optimal signal reception.

3. Power On

Connect the power supply to the Power Socket on the front panel and plug it into an electrical outlet. The router will begin its startup sequence. Observe the LEDs on the front panel for status indications.

4. Initial Access

Connect your computer to one of the router's LAN ports using the Ethernet cable. Open a web browser and navigate to the default IP address: 192.168.1.1. Log in using the default username (admin) and the password found on the label under the router. It is highly recommended to change the default password for security reasons.

Operating

Wi-Fi Client Mode Configuration

To configure the router as a Wi-Fi client (STA mode):

  1. Access the RutOS WebUI (as described in Initial Access).
  2. Navigate to NetworkWireless.
  3. In the SSIDs section, add or edit a wireless interface.
  4. Set Mode to Client (STA).
  5. Scan for available networks and select your desired Wi-Fi hotspot SSID.
  6. Enter the hotspot password.
  7. In Interface ConfigurationGeneral Setup, set Network to wan or wifi1.
  8. Save and Apply the changes.

Dual SIM Failover and Load Balancing

The RUTM50 supports two SIM cards, allowing for uninterrupted connectivity. In the RutOS WebUI, configure failover settings to automatically switch to the secondary SIM if the primary connection is lost. Load balancing can also be configured to distribute network traffic across both SIMs for improved performance.

Advanced Security and VPN Support

The router comes with pre-installed OpenVPN and WireGuard support, enabling secure and private network connections. Access the VPN settings in the RutOS WebUI to configure your preferred VPN client or server. Firewall protection is also available for enhanced network security.

RMS Remote Management

Utilize Teltonika's Remote Management System (RMS) platform for seamless monitoring, updating, and configuration of your RUTM50 device from a remote location. This feature is crucial for efficient network control in industrial applications.
