Setup

Factory Reset

If you encounter issues or wish to clear all previous settings, you can perform a factory reset on your JBL Charge 6. After a factory reset, you will need to manually unpair the speaker from any connected devices and then re-pair it.

1. Ensure the JBL Charge 6 is powered on.
2. Locate the Play/Pause button (►) and the Volume Up button (+) on the top panel of the speaker.
3. Press and hold both the Play/Pause button and the Volume Up button simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds.
4. The speaker will power off, indicating that the factory reset is complete.

Bluetooth Pairing

To connect your JBL Charge 6 to a Bluetooth-enabled device:

1. Power on the JBL Charge 6.
2. Press the Bluetooth pairing button (looks like a Bluetooth symbol) on the top panel of the speaker. The Bluetooth indicator light will begin to flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
3. On your source device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), navigate to the Bluetooth settings menu.
4. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
5. Select "JBL Charge 6" from the list of available devices.
6. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator light on the speaker will turn solid.

Operating Instructions

Stereo Grouping (PartyBoost)

The JBL Charge 6 supports PartyBoost, allowing you to connect two compatible JBL speakers for stereo sound. This feature works exclusively via Bluetooth connection.

1. Ensure both JBL Charge 6 speakers are powered on and at least one is connected to your source device via Bluetooth.
2. On the JBL Charge 6 that is already connected to your device, press the PartyBoost button (looks like an infinity symbol or two overlapping triangles).
3. On the second JBL Charge 6 speaker, press its PartyBoost button.
4. The speakers will automatically connect and begin playing in stereo mode. You can manage stereo settings via the JBL Portable app.

Wired Audio Connection

The JBL Charge 6 supports lossless audio playback via a wired USB-C to USB-C connection. Please note that a USB-C to 3.5mm AUX connection is not supported.

1. Connect one end of a USB-C to USB-C cable to your audio source device (e.g., smartphone, tablet).
2. While holding down the Play/Pause button on the JBL Charge 6, insert the other end of the USB-C cable into the speaker's charging port.
3. You will hear a chime, indicating a successful wired audio connection.

Call Functionality

When taking calls with the JBL Charge 6, please be aware that the speaker does not have a built-in microphone. It will utilize the microphone of your connected phone or source device for communication.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Speaker

The JBL Charge 6 is designed with an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating, allowing for easy cleaning. You can wash off dirt with water, and for tougher grime, a mild soap and a soft brush can be used. The speaker can even be submerged in fresh water for cleaning.

• Rinse the speaker under running fresh water to remove loose dirt.
• For stubborn dirt, apply a small amount of mild soap and gently scrub with a soft brush.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Important: Do not clean the speaker in saltwater (e.g., ocean water) as this can cause damage.

Troubleshooting

Charging Issues

If your JBL Charge 6 is not charging, it may be due to water or debris in the charging port. This is often indicated by flashing lights when you attempt to charge.

• Allow the speaker to air dry completely.
• Ensure the charging port is free of any debris. Do not use regular tissue paper to clean the port, as it can leave fibers behind.
• If the issue persists after drying and cleaning, contact customer support.

Locating the Serial Number

For repair or replacement services, you will need the serial number of your JBL Charge 6. You can typically find it within the JBL Portable app when connected to the speaker. If you are unable to connect to the speaker, the serial number is also physically located on one of the handle loops of the Charge 6, specifically on the left-hand side loop closest to the exclamation mark symbol.
