4. Installation

The ARES WING GDT1006PWH monitor arm offers two mounting options: C-clamp and Grommet mount. Ensure your desk thickness is compatible with the chosen method.

4.1 Desk Compatibility

  • C-Clamp Mount: Fits desks with a thickness of 0.47-1.77 inches (12-45mm).
  • Grommet Mount: Fits desks with a thickness of 0.47-1.97 inches (12-50mm) and an existing hole diameter of 0.4-2.4 inches (10-60mm). If no hole exists, a 3/8 inch (10mm) hole can be drilled.

4.2 Attaching VESA Plate to Monitor

  1. Identify the VESA mounting holes on the back of your monitor.
  2. Select the appropriate VESA adapters (if needed) and screws (M-A, M-B, M-C, M-D, M-E) from the hardware kit that match your monitor's VESA pattern (75x75mm, 100x100mm, 100x200mm, 200x100mm, 200x200mm).
  3. Securely attach the VESA plate to the back of your monitor using a Phillips screwdriver.
  4. For large displays, ensure the VESA adapter is correctly installed. Some monitors, like the Samsung G9, come with a circular adapter that needs to be installed first.

4.3 Mounting the Arm to the Desk

  1. Choose your preferred mounting method (C-clamp or Grommet).
  2. Assemble the chosen base and secure it firmly to your desk.
  3. Insert the pole into the base and tighten the set screw using the provided Allen key.
  4. Slide the lower arm onto the pole and secure it at your desired height.
  5. Attach the upper arm to the lower arm.

4.4 Attaching Monitor to Arm

  1. Before attaching the monitor, adjust the gas spring force value of the head and upper arm to the maximum (turn counter-clockwise) to ensure it can support the monitor's weight.
  2. Carefully hang the monitor (with the VESA plate attached) onto the head of the monitor arm.
  3. Tighten the knob on the VESA plate to secure the monitor.

4.5 Cable Management

Route your monitor cables through the integrated cable management channels on the arm and pole. Use the provided cable clips to keep wires organized for a clean and professional workspace.

7. Maintenance

  • Regularly check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight and secure.
  • Clean the monitor arm with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Periodically re-adjust the gas spring tension if you notice the monitor sagging or rising unexpectedly.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Monitor is sagging or dropping: The gas spring tension is too low for your monitor's weight. Increase the tension by turning the adjustment screw in the '+' direction (counter-clockwise) using the provided Allen key.
  • Monitor is rising too high: The gas spring tension is too high for your monitor's weight. Decrease the tension by turning the adjustment screw in the '-' direction (clockwise) using the provided Allen key.
  • Monitor cannot be tilted: The tilt adjustment screw on the VESA head might be too tight. Loosen it slightly until the desired tilt can be achieved, then re-tighten to secure the position.
  • Arm feels stiff or difficult to move: Check if any screws are overtightened. Ensure the gas spring tension is correctly set for your monitor's weight.
  • Desk mount is unstable: Ensure the C-clamp or grommet mount is securely tightened to the desk. Verify that your desk thickness is within the specified range for the chosen mounting method.
