Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Open the camera housing latch.
- Locate the battery compartment.
- Insert 8 new AA alkaline or lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment securely.
2. SD Card Installation
- Ensure the camera is powered off.
- Insert a Class 10 SD card (up to 32GB recommended) into the SD card slot with the label facing up.
- Push until it clicks into place.
- To remove, push the card in again until it springs out.
3. SIM Card Activation and Installation
The Moultrie Edge 2 comes with a pre-installed SIM card. To activate cellular service:
- Download the Moultrie Mobile app from your device's app store.
- Create an account or log in.
- Follow the in-app instructions to activate your camera and select a data plan.
- Ensure the SIM card is securely seated in its slot within the camera.
4. Mounting the Camera
- Select a sturdy tree or post.
- Thread the provided mounting strap through the slots on the back of the camera.
- Securely fasten the camera at the desired height and angle.
- Ensure the camera is level and pointed towards the desired monitoring area.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
- To power on, slide the power switch to the "ON" position.
- To power off, slide the power switch to the "OFF" position.
2. Initial Setup via Moultrie Mobile App
All camera settings and configurations are managed through the Moultrie Mobile app.
- Open the Moultrie Mobile app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Select your Edge 2 camera from the device list.
- Navigate to the "Settings" menu.
- Adjust parameters such as:
- Capture Mode: Photo, Video, or Photo + Video.
- Photo Resolution: Up to 36MP.
- Video Resolution: 1080P with HD Audio.
- Detection Delay: Time between consecutive captures.
- Detection Sensitivity: Adjust for environmental conditions.
- Upload Frequency: How often images/videos are sent to the cloud.
- Save your changes. The camera will update its settings upon its next check-in.
3. On-Demand Features
The Moultrie Edge 2 supports on-demand photo capture and status checks via the Moultrie Mobile app.
- On-Demand Photo: Request an immediate photo capture from the app. The photo will be uploaded to your gallery shortly after capture.
- On-Demand Status: Request an immediate status update (battery level, signal strength, SD card space) from the app.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Wipe the camera lens and PIR sensor window with a soft, clean cloth to remove dirt or smudges.
- Keep the camera housing free of debris.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
2. Battery Management
- Replace all 8 AA batteries simultaneously when the battery level is low.
- Use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries for best performance and cold weather operation.
- Remove batteries if the camera will not be used for an extended period.
3. SD Card Management
- Periodically format the SD card using the Moultrie Mobile app or a computer to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption.
- Replace old or slow SD cards with new Class 10 cards if issues arise.
4. Firmware Updates
Firmware updates are released periodically to improve camera performance and add new features. These updates are typically managed automatically through the Moultrie Mobile app. Ensure your camera has a good cellular connection and sufficient battery life during an update.
Troubleshooting
Camera Not Powering On
- Check battery polarity and ensure batteries are fully charged.
- Try a new set of batteries.
- Ensure the power switch is in the "ON" position.
No Photos/Videos Captured
- Verify the SD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space.
- Format the SD card.
- Check camera settings in the Moultrie Mobile app (e.g., detection delay, sensitivity).
- Ensure the PIR sensor is not obstructed.
Poor Image/Video Quality
- Clean the camera lens.
- Check resolution settings in the app.
