3. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to properly set up your AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU Dock:
3.1. Installing the Graphics Card
- Ensure the eGPU dock is powered off and disconnected from any power source.
- Carefully open the eGPU dock chassis to access the internal compartment.
- Insert your desired graphics card into the PCIe slot within the dock.
- Connect the 8-pin graphics card power connectors from the dock's internal power supply to your graphics card. The dock provides three 8-pin connectors.
- Secure the graphics card within the dock, if applicable, using any provided retention mechanisms.
- Close the eGPU dock chassis.
3.2. Connecting to Host Device
- Connect the OCuLink cable from the AG02 eGPU Dock to the OCuLink port on your host device (e.g., laptop).
- Important: The OCuLink interface does not support hot-plugging. Ensure both the eGPU dock and your host device are powered off before connecting or disconnecting the OCuLink cable.
- The OCuLink interface features a fixed lock. When disconnecting, press the switch to unlock the cable before removal.
- Alternatively, connect the USB4 cable from the AG02 eGPU Dock to a compatible USB4 port on your host device. The USB4 port supports hot-swapping.
- Connect the power supply cable to the AG02 eGPU Dock and then plug it into a wall outlet (AC 220V~ 50/60Hz).
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Powering On
- After all connections are secure, power on the AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU Dock using its power switch.
- Then, power on your host device.
- The operating system (Windows 11 22H2 or higher recommended, or Mac OS) should detect the external graphics card.
- Install the latest drivers for your graphics card from the manufacturer's website if not automatically detected or updated.
4.2. Powering Off
- Safely shut down your host device.
- Once the host device is off, power off the AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU Dock.
- If disconnecting the OCuLink cable, ensure both devices are off before proceeding.
4.3. TGX Hot-Swapping
The hot-swap feature is exclusively available for devices equipped with a TGX interface, such as the 2024 Lenovo ThinkBook 14+/16+ Core Edition Laptops. Refer to your host device's manual for specific instructions on utilizing TGX hot-swapping.
5. Maintenance
- Keep the eGPU dock in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
- Regularly clean dust from the dock's exterior and internal components (when powered off and disconnected) using compressed air or a soft brush.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Do not attempt to repair the device yourself. Contact customer support for assistance.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU Dock, refer to the following common solutions:
- No Power:
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the dock and the wall outlet.
- Verify the wall outlet is functional.
- Check the power switch on the eGPU dock.
- Graphics Card Not Detected:
- Confirm the graphics card is correctly seated in the PCIe slot and all power connectors are attached.
- Ensure the OCuLink or USB4 cable is securely connected to both the dock and the host device.
- For OCuLink connections, ensure the host device and dock were powered off before connecting the cable.
- Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.
- Verify your host device's operating system is Windows 11 22H2 or higher, or a compatible Mac OS version.
- Check if your host device has an OCuLink port if using an OCuLink connection.
- Performance Issues:
- Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
- Verify your host device's CPU and RAM meet the requirements for the tasks you are performing.
- Check for any background applications consuming excessive resources.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the eGPU dock and host device to prevent thermal throttling.
- OCuLink Cable Disconnection:
- Remember that OCuLink does not support hot-plugging. Always power off both devices before connecting or disconnecting.
- When disconnecting, press the release switch on the OCuLink connector to unlock it.
