  • Power Switch: Toggles the unit on/off.
  • Power PD 9-20V: USB-C input for power delivery (PD) from 9V to 20V.
  • DC9V Out: 9V DC output (up to 200mA) for powering external pedals.
  • Speaker Out: 6.35mm TS output for connecting to a speaker cabinet.
  • Line Out: 6.35mm TRS balanced line output for recording or connecting to a mixer/interface.
  • Input: 6.35mm TS input for connecting your instrument or preamp.
  • Level: Adjusts the overall output volume.
  • Resonance: Controls the low-frequency response, mimicking tube amp characteristics.
  • Presence: Controls the high-frequency response, mimicking tube amp characteristics.

Setup

Power Connection

The CabScreamer60 is powered via its PD input (USB-C), accepting 9-20V. For optimal performance and portability, a mobile power bank or a 65W-100W USB-C power brick is recommended. This eliminates ground loop interference and allows for outdoor use.

Connecting Your Signal Chain

  1. Connect your instrument or the output of your preamp/pedalboard to the Input jack of the CabScreamer60.
  2. If powering other pedals, connect them to the DC9V Out jack (ensure total current draw does not exceed 200mA).
  3. Connect the Speaker Out jack to your speaker cabinet using a 6.35mm TS cable.
  4. For recording or connecting to a mixer/audio interface, use a 6.35mm TRS cable from the Line Out jack.

Operating Instructions

Adjusting Tone with Resonance and Presence

The Resonance and Presence controls are designed to mimic the characteristics of a tube power amplifier, allowing for precise tonal shaping.

CabScreamer60 Presence and Resonance Controls

  • Resonance: Adjusts the low-frequency response. Turning it clockwise increases the low-end fullness and depth.
  • Presence: Adjusts the high-frequency response. Turning it clockwise increases clarity and brightness.

These controls offer a gain and attenuation range of 12dB each. The 12 o'clock position acts as a bypass, providing a neutral setting. Experiment with these controls to achieve your desired sound.

Volume Adjustment

Use the Level knob to set the overall output volume of the amplifier. Start with a low setting and gradually increase to a comfortable listening level.

Connectivity and Usage Scenarios

  • Recording: The balanced Line Out interface allows for real-time recording by routing the audio signal directly to an audio interface, ensuring clear capture of your performance.
  • External Pedals: The 9V DC output provides power to external pedals, simplifying your setup by reducing the need for additional power supplies.
  • Live Performance: The Line Out can be connected via a TS cable to drive additional enclosures from a second power amplifier pedal. For personal monitoring, it can be connected to an infrared charger.
  • Portable Use: With PD power input, the CabScreamer60 can be powered by a mobile power bank, making it suitable for outdoor performances or locations without AC power.

Maintenance

  • Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the unit free from dust and debris, especially around the input/output jacks and ventilation areas.
  • Store the pedal in a cool, dry place when not in use.

Troubleshooting

  • Unit does not power on: Ensure the USB-C power cable is securely connected to the PD input and that your power source (e.g., power brick, power bank) is functioning correctly and providing sufficient wattage (65W-100W recommended). Try unplugging and re-plugging the power cable.
  • No sound output: Check all cable connections (input, speaker out, line out). Verify that the Level knob is not set to minimum. Ensure your instrument and speaker cabinet are functioning.
  • Humming or noise: Ensure all cables are properly shielded. If using a power bank, it can help eliminate ground hum. Check for interference from other electronic devices.
  • External pedals not powering on: Verify that the total current draw of connected pedals does not exceed 200mA from the DC9V Out. Check pedal power requirements.
