Setup and Installation
The Evenflo NurtureMax Infant Car Seat Base can be installed using either the vehicle's lower anchor system (LATCH) or the vehicle's seat belt. Always refer to your vehicle owner's manual for specific car seat installation instructions and locations of LATCH anchors.
1. Preparing the Base
- Place the car seat base on the vehicle seat where it will be installed.
- Adjust the recline position of the base to achieve the correct angle. The base has 4 reclining positions. Refer to the level line indicator on the side of the base to ensure it is within the acceptable range for your child's weight and height.

2. Installation using Lower Anchors (LATCH)
- Locate the lower anchors in your vehicle's seat. These are typically found in the crease between the seat back and bottom cushion.
- Attach the lower anchor connectors from the car seat base to the vehicle's lower anchors. Ensure both connectors are securely latched.
- Press down firmly on the car seat base while pulling the LATCH strap to tighten it. The base should not move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- Verify the level line indicator is correct.
3. Installation using Vehicle Seat Belt
- Route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt through the designated belt path on the car seat base.
- Buckle the vehicle seat belt.
- Press down firmly on the car seat base while pulling the shoulder portion of the vehicle seat belt to remove all slack. If your vehicle seat belt has a locking mechanism (retractor or locking clip), engage it according to your vehicle's manual.
- The base should not move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- Verify the level line indicator is correct.

Attaching the Infant Car Seat
- Align the infant car seat with the base.
- Lower the car seat onto the base until you hear an audible "click," indicating it is securely latched.
- Always check that the car seat is firmly attached to the base by lifting the car seat handle. It should not lift off the base.
Detaching the Infant Car Seat
- Locate the car seat release handle or button, typically at the back or front of the car seat.
- Press or pull the release mechanism while simultaneously lifting the infant car seat straight up from the base.
Maintenance and Care
Proper care ensures the longevity and safety of your car seat base.
- Cleaning: Do not lubricate or immerse any part of this child restraint in water, unless rinsing is permitted. Plastic and metal parts may be wiped clean with mild soap and water and dried with a soft cloth. The harness (if applicable to the car seat, not the base) can be wiped clean with mild soap and water. Allow harness to air dry. Machine wash the seat pad separately in cold water, delicate cycle. Tumble dry 10 to 15 minutes on low heat.
- Storage: Store the car seat base in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the base for any signs of damage, wear, or missing parts. Contact Evenflo customer service if you notice any issues.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Base moves more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) | Not tightened sufficiently; incorrect belt path. | Re-install the base, ensuring the LATCH strap or vehicle seat belt is pulled as tight as possible while pressing down on the base. Verify the belt path is correct. |
| Infant car seat does not click into base | Misalignment; obstruction. | Ensure the car seat is properly aligned with the base's connectors. Check for any obstructions preventing a secure connection. |
| Level line indicator is not correct | Incorrect recline angle. | Adjust the recline mechanism on the base until the level line indicator is within the acceptable range. |
