5. Setup and Operation

5.1. Understanding the Voltage Switch

The DewinLVD S12 features a manual voltage selection switch on its side. This switch determines the input voltage the converter expects and, consequently, the output voltage it provides.

Figure 3: Detailed view of the Manual Voltage Switch.

  • Switch to AC-117V (Left Position):
    • Input Voltage: 110V-120V (e.g., USA, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand).
    • Output Voltage: 220V-240V.
    • Use this setting when you are in a country with 110V-120V power outlets and need to power an appliance that requires 220V-240V.
  • Switch to AC-230V (Right Position):
    • Input Voltage: 220V-240V (e.g., China, most European countries).
    • Output Voltage: 110V-120V.
    • Use this setting when you are in a country with 220V-240V power outlets and need to power an appliance that requires 110V-120V.

WARNING: Always confirm the local power supply voltage and your appliance's voltage requirement before setting the switch. An incorrect setting can cause irreversible damage to your device.

5.2. Step-by-Step Operating Instructions

  1. Identify Local Voltage: Determine the standard voltage of the wall outlet in your current location (e.g., 110V in the USA, 220V in Europe).
  2. Identify Appliance Voltage: Check the voltage requirement of the appliance you intend to use with the converter.
  3. Set Converter Switch:
    • If local voltage is 110V-120V and your appliance needs 220V-240V, set the converter switch to AC-117V (left).
    • If local voltage is 220V-240V and your appliance needs 110V-120V, set the converter switch to AC-230V (right).

CRITICAL: Ensure this step is performed correctly before proceeding.

  4. Connect Appliance: Plug your low-power appliance (under 50W) into the universal output socket on the front of the converter.
  5. Connect to Power Outlet: Plug the converter's American (Type A) input plug into the wall outlet. If the wall outlet is not Type A, use an appropriate travel adapter (not included).
  6. Power On: Turn on your appliance. The converter's indicator light (if present) should illuminate, indicating power is flowing.
  7. Disconnect: When finished, turn off your appliance, unplug the converter from the wall outlet, and then unplug your appliance from the converter.
