2. Important Safety Instructions

Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury, death, or damage to the inverter and other equipment. Always exercise caution when working with electrical devices.

  • Read All Instructions: Before operating the inverter, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the inverter, the batteries, and all appropriate sections of this manual.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: The inverter generates AC power, which can be lethal. Do not open the inverter casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • Explosion Hazard: Do not use the inverter near flammable fumes or gases, such as in the bilge of gasoline-powered boats, or near propane tanks.
  • Proper Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the inverter. Do not block ventilation openings. Overheating can cause the inverter to shut down or malfunction.
  • Battery Safety: Work with batteries in a well-ventilated area. Batteries can produce explosive hydrogen gas. Do not smoke or allow sparks or flames near batteries.

4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your inverter. Follow these steps carefully.

4.1 Choosing a Location

  • Install the inverter in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure there is at least 15 cm (6 inches) of clear space around the inverter for proper airflow.
  • Mount the inverter securely on a flat, non-flammable surface.
  • Keep the inverter away from water, oil, and flammable materials.

4.2 Connecting to the Battery

Before making any connections, ensure the inverter's ON/OFF switch is in the "OFF" position.

  1. Prepare Cables: Use the provided heavy-gauge battery cables. Ensure the cable length is as short as possible to minimize voltage drop.
  2. Connect Negative Terminal: Connect the black cable to the inverter's negative (-) terminal and then to the battery's negative (-) terminal. Tighten securely.
  3. Connect Positive Terminal: Connect the red cable to the inverter's positive (+) terminal and then to the battery's positive (+) terminal. Tighten securely.
  4. Grounding: Connect the inverter's grounding terminal to a proper earth ground (e.g., vehicle chassis, ground rod).

Important: Always connect the negative cable first, then the positive. When disconnecting, disconnect the positive cable first, then the negative. Ensure all connections are firm to prevent sparks and overheating.

Refer to Figure 6 for recommended battery configurations based on your inverter's wattage and battery type. For the 4000W model, 4x 100Ah or 3x 150Ah batteries are recommended for optimal performance with GEL/AGM/SLD/FLD types.

4.3 Connecting the Remote Control

If using the remote control, connect the provided RJ45 cable from the remote control unit to the "Remote Control" port on the inverter.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On the Inverter

  1. Ensure all battery connections are secure.
  2. Flip the ON/OFF switch on the inverter to the "ON" position.
  3. The LCD display will light up, showing input voltage, output voltage, and other parameters. The indicator lights will confirm operation.

5.2 Connecting AC Appliances

  1. Plug your AC appliance(s) into the AC output sockets on the inverter.
  2. Ensure the total power consumption of all connected appliances does not exceed the inverter's continuous power rating (4000W).
  3. For inductive loads (e.g., motors, refrigerators), the starting surge power can be significantly higher than the running power. Ensure the appliance's surge power does not exceed the inverter's peak power rating (8000W).

5.3 Using USB Ports

The inverter includes standard USB-A and USB Type-C ports for charging compatible devices.

  • Connect your USB device charging cable to the appropriate USB-A (5V/2.4A) or USB Type-C (PD/QC3.0 Max 30W) port.
  • The inverter does not need to be supplying AC power for the USB ports to function, as long as it is powered on.

5.4 Powering Off the Inverter

  1. Disconnect all AC appliances from the inverter.
  2. Flip the ON/OFF switch on the inverter to the "OFF" position.
  3. If storing the inverter, disconnect it from the battery.

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your ETREPOW inverter.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the inverter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

If your inverter is not functioning correctly, refer to the following common issues and solutions before contacting support.
