1. Safety Information

4. Setup & Installation

The Vidapool pool pump is designed for easy installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  • Inspect the pump for any signs of damage during shipping. Contact customer support immediately if any damage is found.
  • Ensure all listed components are present: pump unit, 1.25-inch adapters (2), 1.5-inch adapters (2), lid opener.

4.2 Placement

  • Place the pump on a solid, level surface near the pool.
  • Ensure the location is well-ventilated and protected from rain and direct sunlight.
  • Maintain sufficient space around the pump for maintenance and air circulation.

4.3 Plumbing Connections

The pump comes with two 1.25-inch and two 1.5-inch inlet and outlet adapters, compatible with Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Choose the appropriate adapters for your plumbing system.

  • Method 1: 1-1/2" or 2" Schedule 40 PVC Pipe Glue Connection. Use PVC cement to securely attach the appropriate PVC pipe directly to the pump's inlet and outlet ports.
  • Method 2: 1-1/2" or 2" Schedule 40 PVC Pipe Glue Connection + 2" PVC Hose with Clamp. For flexible hose connections, first glue the PVC pipe to the pump, then attach the PVC hose using a hose clamp.
  • Ensure all connections are watertight to prevent leaks and maintain pump efficiency.

4.4 Electrical Connection

  • The pump operates on 115V. Ensure your power supply matches this requirement.
  • Plug the 6-foot UL-tested power cord into a properly grounded GFCI-protected outlet.
  • Ensure the earthing terminal is correctly connected for safety.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Priming the Pump

Before starting the pump for the first time or after draining, it must be primed:

  • Ensure all valves are open to allow water flow to the pump.
  • Remove the lid of the filter basket (use the included lid opener if needed).
  • Fill the filter basket with water until it overflows.
  • Replace the lid securely.
  • Turn on the pump. It should begin to draw water and circulate it. If it does not prime within a few minutes, turn it off, re-fill the basket, and try again.

5.2 Setting the Integrated Timer

The pump features an integrated timer for automated operation. Do not operate the pump when the priming system is closed.

  • Step 1: Calculate Run Time. Determine the optimal pump run time based on your pool size and usage. The timer offers nine options from 2 to 24 hours.
  • Step 2: Set Start Time. Wait until the desired time you want the pump to start each day.
  • Step 3: Select Running Hours. Press the clock button on the control panel to choose the desired running hours.
  • The pump will now automatically activate at the set time every day and run for the selected duration.

5.3 Quiet Operation

The pump is designed for quiet performance, allowing for a peaceful poolside experience even during operation.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Filter Basket

  • Remove Lid: Use the lid opener to unscrew and remove the transparent lid.
  • Remove Basket: Carefully lift out the filter basket.
  • Clean Debris: Empty any collected leaves, hair, grit, or other debris from the basket. Rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
  • Reinstall: Place the clean basket back into the pump, ensuring it is seated correctly. Replace the lid and tighten it securely.

6.2 Winterization

If you live in an area with freezing temperatures, proper winterization is crucial to prevent damage:

  • Drain all water from the pump and plumbing lines.
  • Disconnect the pump and store it in a dry, frost-free location.
  • Follow your pool manufacturer's guidelines for winterizing the entire pool system.
