1. Setup: Setting Your Combination
Your Forge Optimus TSA Approved Luggage Lock comes preset to 0-0-0-0. To set your personal combination, follow these steps:
- Ensure the lock is open and set to the default combination (0-0-0-0).
- Locate the reset button on the side or bottom of the lock. This is usually a small, recessed button.
- Use a pen or a pointed object to press and hold the reset button until you hear a click or feel it engage.
- While holding the reset button, rotate the dials to your desired 4-digit combination. Choose a memorable number.
- Release the reset button. Your new combination is now set.
- Scramble the dials to lock the shackle. Test your new combination to ensure it opens the lock correctly.

2. Operation: Locking and Unlocking
2.1 Locking Your Luggage
- Align the dials to your personal 4-digit combination.
- Press the side button to release the cable shackle.
- Thread the cable through the zippers of your luggage or the designated locking points.
- Insert the cable end back into the lock body until it clicks securely into place.
- Scramble the dials to secure the lock.
2.2 Unlocking Your Luggage
- Align the dials to your personal 4-digit combination.
- Press the side button to release the cable shackle. The lock will open.

4. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the lock body and dials with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts, such as the cable mechanism and dials, to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: Store the lock in a dry place when not in use to prevent moisture buildup.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the cable and lock body for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. If significant damage is observed, consider replacing the lock.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Lock Not Opening with Correct Combination
- Check Dial Alignment: Ensure all four digits are perfectly aligned in the center of the viewing window. Sometimes a slight misalignment can prevent opening.
- Verify Combination: Double-check that you are using the correct personal combination. If you have multiple locks, ensure you are using the combination specific to this lock.
- Reset Button Engagement: If the lock was recently reset, ensure the reset button was fully released after setting the new combination.
5.2 Open Alert Indicator is Up
- This indicates that TSA agents have opened your luggage for inspection.
- To reset the indicator, simply enter your correct 4-digit combination and open the lock. The red indicator will retract automatically.
5.3 Dials are Stiff or Hard to Turn
- Clean Dials: Dirt or debris might be obstructing the dials. Clean them as described in the Maintenance section.
- Lubricate: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the dials and rotate them to distribute the lubricant.
