4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Scanning Operation
To scan a barcode, ensure the scanner is connected and powered on (indicated by an LED light or a brief beep upon connection). Hold the scanner with the scanning window facing the barcode.
- Point the scanning window directly at the barcode you wish to read.
- Press and hold the trigger button (blue button on the handle). A red scanning line or light will emit from the scanning window.
- Position the scanner so that the red line or light crosses the entire barcode.
- Once the barcode is successfully read, the scanner will emit a beep and/or the LED indicator will flash. The decoded data will be transmitted to your connected device as if typed from a keyboard.
- Release the trigger button.

4.2 Trigger Modes
The YHD-6200D supports multiple trigger modes to suit different operational needs:
- Handheld Mode: This is the default mode. Scanning occurs only when the trigger button is pressed.
- Continuous Mode: The scanner continuously emits the scanning light, reading barcodes as they pass within its field of view without requiring the trigger button to be pressed for each scan. This mode is useful for high-volume scanning.
- Automatic Induction Mode: The scanner remains in a low-power state and activates the scanning light only when a barcode is detected within its scanning range. This mode conserves power and is ideal for hands-free operation when placed on a stand (stand not included).
Refer to the full user manual (if provided separately) for instructions on how to switch between these trigger modes, typically done by scanning specific configuration barcodes.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ASHATA YHD-6200D barcode scanner.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the scanning window with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the scanning window and impair performance.
- Storage: When not in use, store the scanner in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and excessive dust.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the scanner or subjecting it to strong impacts. While built to be durable, excessive force can damage internal components.
- Cable Care: Do not bend or twist the USB cable excessively. Avoid pulling the cable to disconnect the scanner; always grasp the plug.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your barcode scanner, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner does not power on or respond. | Loose cable connection; USB port issue; Scanner malfunction. | Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the scanner and the host device. Try a different USB port on your device. Test the scanner on another computer if possible. |
| Scanner reads barcodes but data does not appear on screen. | Incorrect input focus; Software issue. | Ensure the cursor is active in a text field (e.g., Notepad, Word document, or a specific application field) where you expect the data to appear. Restart the application or computer. |
| Scanner fails to read certain barcodes. | Barcode damaged or poorly printed; Incorrect symbology enabled; Scanning distance issue. | Check if the barcode is clear and undamaged. Ensure the scanner supports the specific barcode type (e.g., QR, Data Matrix). Adjust the distance and angle of the scanner to the barcode. Clean the scanning window. |
| Scanner beeps but does not transmit data. | Configuration error; Connectivity issue. | This might indicate a configuration issue. Refer to the full user manual for factory reset or specific configuration barcode scanning. Reconnect the USB cable. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact ASHATA customer support for further assistance.
