3. Setup and Driver Installation

Important: Driver installation is required for this product to function correctly on both Windows and Mac operating systems. Please follow the instructions below carefully.

3.1 Driver Download

Visit the official driver download page: https://www.mct.com.tw/. Navigate to the 'Download Center' and locate the 'USB Display Adapters' section. Download the appropriate driver for your operating system (Windows or Mac).

3.2 Windows Driver Installation

1. Step 1: Download and Extract. Download the zip file, unzip it, and double-click the executable file to begin the installation process.

2. Step 2: Follow On-Screen Prompts. Install the driver by following the step-by-step instructions provided by the installer. Accept the license agreement and proceed with the installation.

3. Step 3: Restart Your Computer. After the installation is complete, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

3.3 Mac OS Driver Installation

1. Step 1: Open Downloaded File. Open the downloaded driver file (typically a .pkg document) and double-click it to start the installation.

2. Step 2: Install the Driver. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the driver. Click 'Continue' through the introduction and read-me sections, then proceed with the installation type.

3. Step 3: Allow System Software. After installation, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security. Find the section for 'System software from application "USB Display Device" was blocked from loading' and click 'Allow'.

4. Step 4: Grant Screen Recording Access. In System Settings > Privacy & Security, navigate to 'Screen Recording'. Enable access for 'USB Display'. This is necessary for the adapter to function correctly.

5. Step 5: Enter Password and Restart. Enter your device password when prompted (Apple privacy permissions may not show password input directly, just type and press Enter). Restart your Mac to complete the installation.

3.4 Connecting the Adapter

1. Connect the integrated USB-A or USB-C cable from the adapter to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer. Ensure the connection is secure.
2. Connect your HDMI monitors to the corresponding HDMI ports on the adapter. The adapter has two 4K30Hz ports and two 1080P60Hz ports.
3. Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected to both the adapter and your monitors.

4. Operating Modes

The CENMATE adapter supports both mirror and extended display modes, allowing you to configure your multi-monitor setup according to your needs.

4.1 Mirror Mode

In mirror mode, your computer's main display content is duplicated across all connected external monitors. This is useful for presentations or sharing content on multiple screens simultaneously.

4.2 Extended Mode

In extended mode, each connected external monitor acts as an independent display, expanding your desktop workspace. This allows for multitasking across multiple screens, improving productivity.

4.3 Configuring Display Settings

After connecting the adapter and installing the drivers, you can configure your display settings through your operating system:

• Windows: Right-click on your desktop, select 'Display settings'. Here you can detect, arrange, and set the resolution and orientation for each monitor. Choose 'Extend these displays' or 'Duplicate these displays' as needed.
• Mac OS: Go to System Settings > Displays. You can arrange your displays, set resolutions, and choose between 'Mirror Displays' or 'Use as separate display'.

If you encounter issues with your CENMATE USB A/C 3.0 to 4xHDMI Adapter, please refer to the following common solutions:

• No Display / Monitors Not Detected:
  • Ensure the required drivers are correctly installed for your operating system (Windows or Mac). Refer to Section 3.
  • Verify that all USB and HDMI cables are securely connected to both the adapter and your computer/monitors.
  • Restart your computer after driver installation or if monitors are not detected.
  • Check your computer's display settings to ensure the monitors are enabled and configured for mirror or extended mode.
  • If using a Mac, confirm that 'Screen Recording' permissions are granted to 'USB Display' in Privacy & Security settings (refer to Section 3.3, Step 4).
• Intermittent Display / Glitches:
  • Unplug and replug the adapter from your computer. This can resolve temporary connection issues, especially after system updates or multiple sleep/wake cycles.
  • Ensure your computer's USB port supports USB 3.0 data transmission.
  • Check for updated drivers on the manufacturer's website.
• Adapter Overheating:
  • While the aluminum casing is designed for heat dissipation, prolonged heavy use with multiple high-resolution displays can cause the adapter to become warm. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
  • If overheating leads to performance issues, disconnect the adapter for a few minutes to allow it to cool down.
• Cannot Play Protected Content (Netflix, Hulu):
  • This adapter does not support HDCP-protected content. This is a hardware limitation and not a defect.
• Unsupported Operating Systems:
  • The adapter is not compatible with ChromeOS, Linux, or Unix. Attempting to use it with these systems will not yield results.
