4.2. Step-by-Step Installation Guide
The following video demonstrates a general installation process for ERKUL running boards. While the vehicle shown in the video is a Jeep Renegade, the fundamental steps for bracket attachment and running board mounting are similar for the Subaru Forester. Please refer to your specific vehicle's undercarriage for exact mounting points.

- Vehicle Preparation: Raise the vehicle using a car lift or secure jack stands to provide adequate working space underneath.
- Locate Mounting Points: Identify the factory mounting points on the vehicle's chassis. These are typically pre-drilled holes or existing bolts along the rocker panel. You may need to remove plastic covers or plugs to access these points.
- Install Front Bracket: Secure the front bracket to the designated front mounting points on the vehicle's frame using the provided hardware. Hand-tighten bolts initially to allow for adjustment.
- Install Rear Bracket: Secure the rear bracket to the designated rear mounting points. Again, hand-tighten bolts.
- Prepare Running Board: Insert the T-bolts into the channels on the underside of the running board. Position them to align with the bracket mounting holes.
- Mount Running Board: Carefully lift the running board and align the T-bolts with the holes on the installed brackets. Secure with washers and nuts, hand-tightening only.
- Adjust and Final Tighten: Adjust the running board for proper alignment and desired position. Once satisfied, fully tighten all bolts on the brackets and the running board using a socket wrench. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same steps for installing the running board on the opposite side of the vehicle.

5. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the running boards regularly with mild soap and water to remove dirt, road grime, and salt. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Inspect Fasteners: Periodically check all mounting bolts and nuts to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary to prevent loosening due to vehicle vibration.
- Check for Damage: Inspect the running boards and brackets for any signs of damage, corrosion, or wear. Replace any damaged components immediately to maintain safety and structural integrity.
6. Troubleshooting
- Loose Running Board: If the running board feels loose or wobbly, re-check all mounting bolts and nuts for proper tightness. Ensure brackets are correctly seated.
- Unusual Noises: Squeaking or rattling sounds may indicate loose fasteners or improper installation. Inspect all contact points and tighten as needed.
- Difficulty Aligning: Ensure the correct brackets are used for the front and rear positions, and that the running board is oriented correctly. Slight adjustments may be needed before final tightening.
